We have visited Hilton Head several times and have considered buying
an oceanfront villa in Palmetto Dunes. We have not visited Fripp
Island. Can anyone give me a comparison to Hilton Head?
In April of 1998, my fiancee and I visited the magical Island of
Fripp. As guest we were treated as royality. At every turn there is a
friendly smile and a warm hello. This hospitality combined with some
of the most romantic views one will ever experience, served as the
perfect backdrop for me to propose. My fiancee and I will be married
this December. We can not wait to return to your piece of paradise.
Please send me some information on fishing in the area. We are going
to be visiting the area the first week in June
our vacations have always been to outer banks NC with exceptions to
hilton head and myrtle beach. Friends are recommending fripp island
or kiawah or even holden beach and thereabouts. any strong opions?
Our goal is to have family time and enjoy and learn about an area. we
don't need a lot of extras ie amusements, games shopping etc. Never
done a condo but we hear that's the place to stay in these areas.
we've always done houses in duck nc. we're a family of 6...4 kids
with oldest 9 yrs youngest 18 months. would welcome any advice.
thanks!
My grandparents, Albert and Virginia Schaufelberger, live on Fripp's
southern coast. Every summer my family and I come and visit them. We
always have had a wonderful time! We have seen dolphins, and many
deer! It's a fun, interesting, and educational community, and I hope
it will stay that way for a long time.
Hi, I just was wondering if you would have any suggestions on where
and what to do in Fripp Island.....My Single's Church Goup is planning
our Retreat there and I am in charge of finding out "Things to
Do!".....and a lot of fun......you can E-mail me at
PhilFutrel@aol.com......Thanks and May God Bless you
Posted 3/31/98 We came to your island by chance and had a wonderful
stay. Enjoyed dinner at the Ocean Club Restaurant & breakfast at
Hugo's. Lot's of walking & even a couple miles of running on
Tarpon Blvd. Thanks to Gretchen at the front desk & Coleman, one
of your sales agents, we came away with a great feeling & a piece
of land. I work on homes for a living (mostly repairs & finish
work) & I hope to be making your island my home someday soon. Do
you think I'll find some work on the island or will I have to go to
the mainland? Either way I think Fripp is where we want to live. Hope
to see you soon, John & Margaret
My family has owned a home in Hilton Head since 1974, when HH was to
me what a resort should be (no traffic jams). They have since sold
their place and looking to buy again. We will be visiting Fripp in
mid-Sept to see what everyone is talking about. Few questions. . .how
are the beaches, what are the dining spots and "local"
favorites, shopping?, any info would be great! Look forward to
visiting.
My husband and I are thinking of going to Fripp this summer. We would
appreciate the scoop on the places to stay that are in key locations
to restaurants, shops and other fun stuff. Are there activities, such
as boat excursions, anything else. Is there any nightlife? Thanks
3/30/98
Would like to hear from anyone that's been to Fripp Island, especially
interested in the rental communities. I've only come across Captain
John Fripp Villas, they look great!! Anyone ever stayed there? Do you
have some other recommendations for places to stay on Fripp Island?
This is a family trip with the kids, and would like to know the best
"Kid friendly" places to stay. Any especially memorable
activities we should do with the kids? THANKS!! (E-MAIL IS
FLTWIST@AOL.COM)
My son is graduating from marine boot camp may 1st. I want this to be
a lovely family memory on Fripp Island. I need a cottage for may 1 and
may 2 for 3 children and 4 adults. I would like something casual, on
or near the beach. I am most interested in natural beauty, and the
beach, I do not need golf or tennis. Is this the wrong island for me?
We would like to visit Fripp Island the week of June 13, 1998. Could
someone fill us in as to the best location to be with 2 children,
location to beach and pools. We are considering New Haven or North
Hampton. Are there enough activities to keep the children busy? The
resort accomodations seem to be filling up, how do we go about renting
outside of the resort and can you use the pools if you do this? Also
I've heard mention of the alligators...are they anything to be
concerned about?? Thanks for any information you can give! Beth
Sennett (sennett@dave-world.net)
Where would be the best location on the island to stay with a 4 and 6
year old? Do all the pools have shallow ends? Also can anyone compare
Seabrook Island to Fripp Island for me? We are planning a week trip
for June 15, 1998. Thank you...Beth Sennett (sennett@dave-world.net)
Looking for a family vacation spot for the month of July 1998. We know
alot about Kiawah but, nothing about Fripp island. WE have 2 children
ages 10 and 7. Please include activities for children as well as
monthly rental rates for ocenfront home. thanks. Mary Romero
My spouse, our three chidren, and seven of my adult siblings along
with their families and our parents are going to be spending x-mas '98
at Fripp Island for the first time. The kids range in age from babies
to 15. Some of the adults are single while others are married. Can
anyone tell me what activities to expect since this is the off-season?
Are there chidren's programs at that time of year? Is the pool heated
in December? What can teen's do? Has anyone ever gotton a X-mas tree
and what do you do with it after X-mas? Please e-mail me back. Thanks!
Kathryn
We are 3X travelers to Hilton Head, never again !! Played golf at
Fripp twice. Staying 4/5-4/4/12 at Beach Club Villas. Looking forward
to golf, biking & hiking. Any special activities that week we can
look forward too ?? Can we get any restaurant information by mail.
What do you know about the Shrimp Shack on Harbor Island ?
njgrose@iserv.net
We have vacationed at Fripp several times...always stayed in a
corporate condo @ Capt. John Fripp. There is nowhere else in the world
we would rather vacation...or retire! What a wonderful place! We hope
to return this year, perhaps stay in a beach house with the entire
family (we're growing, newest addition expected in April!). The
Lathams and the Barriers.
We are considering Fripp Island as a vacation destination with our
elementary age children. We have been vacationing at Kiawah for
several years and are looking for a change. Can someone give of a
comparision of Fripp to Kiawah for us. We are especially interested in
the camps for kids, and nature programs. We are also interested in
finding out about the bike trails. We like the fact that there seem to
be more vacation homes. Which part of the island is preferred? Thanks.
My Grandfather, Edward Fripp was born on the Island sometime in the
late 1800's and I look forward to visiting the Island soon. If my
mother is correct in telling me the approximate location of Johann
Fripp's (the pirate) buried treasure and the civil war stash of loot
of the Fripp family, I can only hope that someone has not built on the
location as my digging could only serve to disturb the occupants. I am
of course open to splitting the find.
Posted December, 1997 Its wonderful to read to glowing comments about
Fripp. My family has vacationed there each summer since 1990. But I'm
worried that if we all brag too much, too many people will find out,
and our Island will lose some of its laid-back charm. It is a
wonderful place, a world away from Hilton Head and its congestion. May
it always stay that way and be a haven for residents and visitors
alike.
I visited Fripp Island in June 1997. I thought it was the most
beautiful and relaxing place I've ever been. I especially loved the
new Cabana Club with Willy's Wet Bar (ask for Kermit) It is a
wonderful place for children and adults to visit. Camp Fripp has a
million neat things for kids to do. I can't wait to go back there
again.
I would like to come to Fripp Island arriving June 28 (Sunday) and
departing July 6 (Sunday). I would like to have a two/threee bedroom
condo beach front. Can some one help me with how to go about arranging
this? Thanks
My family has been vacationing in Fripp Island and Harbor Island since
1984 and we LOVE it. Having never missed a summer, our favorite
memories include turtle watching, swimming in the ocean, spending
countless hours on the beach and golfing. Since the climate in Iowa is
cold from November to March, the time we spend in Fripp is much
appreciated. I usually come to my villa in Harbor Island 3-4 times a
year, other than summer, and especially love to sit on the porch, read
and listen to the calmness of the ocean. See you in 1998! Kathy
Steele, Oelwein, Iowa 50662
We come to Fripp every year and love it! We own on the 17th hole on
Ocean Creek, can't wait to build and move in!!
We spent summer vacation at Fripp Island (7/97). It was the most
wonderful vacation we've had. Our 4 year old son was delighted by the
Cavana Club. The quiet and relaxing atmosphere of the island will
definitely bring us back.
Our granparents live on the 18th hole of the Ocean Point Golf Course.
We come to visit every summer, and LOVE IT! It is the best place in
the world. You've never seen the stars so beautifully as on a clear
summer night at Fripp. Our Uncle Dave says that's because Fripp is so
close to Heaven - We agree!
WE HAVE STAYED IN HILTON HEAD FOR THREE YEARS AND THE TRAFFIC IS
GETTING HORRIBLE. THOUGHT WE WOULD TRY SOMETHING NEW. ANYONE OUT THERE
WHO HAS SWITCHED FROM HILTON HEAD TO FRIPP PLEASE RESPOND. THANKS.
Fripp Island is the best vacation place in the south, I have been
going with 29 or more other people for 6 years now, we always stay in
the Captain John Fripp Villa'sIII, #144 and #142, my aunt stayed in
#143, 141, and 140. We love them, and they are so much fun to stay in,
especially with 18 people in one house, I personally look forward to
Fripp every year, and I am already counting down the days until I go
again. ONLY 368!!!!
Help! We've heard such wonderful things about Fripp Island and are
planning our next summer's vacation there. I would appreciate any
information as to where anyone would recommend us staying. I would
love a very small "cottage style" beach house. It will just
be my family of four! Our e-mail address is sales@starlitesign.com
(this is my husband's work e-mail address). Thanks for any help you
can offer! 7/30/97
I just found this site, and enjoyed reading everyone's comments so
much! We found Fripp over 20 years ago when we came from the Midwest
to camp at Hunting Island. It is a piece of paradise, and we have been
coming back annually for years now. A week or two a year is just not
enough! We can't wait to become resident islanders in a few years.
"Life IS Fripp Island"!!
Sunsets on the south end are phenominal!
Hi Fripp veterans! I am 12 years old from Ohio , and will be
vacationing at Fripp this month (7/97). We will be arriving with 3
families (6 audults) and 11 kids, ages 7-17. We are wondering what
kind of things we should do during our stay. ( restuaraunts, golf,
fishing, crabbing, shopping) and anything else you thought was
interesting. Please e-mail me soon we are leaving in a week.
My family has been visiting Fripp Island for the past three years. We
travel with friends, and every year we have had wonderful and
memorable expierences at Fripp. Its beautiful beaches, golf courses,
clay tennis courts, and pools are a few of the fun things we have
participated in, at this excellent resort. Is is a wonderful vactrion
spot for any person of any age, whether you are there to relax or keep
busy. We would recocomand it to anyone.
Were going to Captain John Fripp 3 this week. Does anyone know what
this area of Captain John is like? Any suggestions on what to bring to
make it a more enjoyable trip? Let us know! Thanks, the Loparich's

I have been to Fripp Island with my stepfather, John Enloe, for Spring
break. The beautiful landscaping, the choice of pools and beaches, the
wildlife and the warm and caring island staff made it one of my best
vacations ever. I remember seeing aligators on the edge of the lagoon
on the 16th fairway across from the Fairway Club villa where we were
staying. It was wonderful. Joshua Teaster
We vacationed on Hunting Island for many years before making the
change to Fripp Island. We love it! Daniel loves the Camp Fripp and
is looking forward to the sports options this summer during our
vacation. The Cabana Club is a wonderful addition to your amenities.
Drinks at sunset at the Marina Restaurant and sitting in the rocking
chairs beachside at the Beach Club are the best.
I have never been to Fripp Island, and need info on accomidations and
genral info about Fripp Island. We would like to come down around June
20th. I have 2 children ages 12 and 5. Any info would be greatly
appreciated. Thank in advance! Christina
Re: the Zucco family comments: are there really any hammerhead sharks
around Fripp. Or did they "think" they saw one. It seems
most unlikely. Does anyone know?????
Hi Fripp, My family and I own a house down there on Gray Mallard
Court and we would like to say that Fripp ISland is the best resort in
the world. Our next store neighbor is Rita she is very nice but some
times she gets on my nerves if you know what I mean. Your cabana club
is the best. Well thats all for now bye. Your friend, 12 year old
Evan Geiger P.S. please e-mail me back at tgeiger@tribeca.ios.com
make sure to visit the Shrimp Shack on Harbor Island each and every
time you are on your way to Fripp!! The Shrimp Burgers are to
diaharria for. Our Best The Youngs
How do we get info re: real estate available on the island? ie, villas
and or homes for sale? Thanks for your help
We visited at the end of September 1996 for our honeymoon. What a
perfect choice. We had a relaxing as well as fun filled time! The
weather was perfect although a hurricane almost hit a week before we
arrived! The food at the Beach Club and our accomadations at New Haven
were wonderful. Golfing at Ocean
Creek
We visited Fripp for 2 wks. last June. From Toronto, we drove. This
time we'd like to fly. Any suggestions on the best connections from
Toronto. i.e fly to Atlanta and then Savannah? Any suggestions
welcome. Tks. P.S. The Marina Bar is one of our alltime favorites
for she-crab soup.
Hi. We are a big family from Sweden comming to visit Fripp Island in
May 97. We have small kids and we like to know where to go and what to
do with them. Thanks! Sarah skonby
We are looking for a place to stay for 4 people on April6 & 7. Any
suggestions?
January 21, 1997 I just found this site on the net. We stayed at
Fripp Island last year (the first week in June). The weather was
perfect and our house on Sea Dragon was great. We really enjoyed the
quiet atmosphere. We had previously been staying on Hilton Head and
found this much more relaxing, My Dad and son enjoyed fishing and
crabbing on the pier. Nearby Beaufort was great for a day tour of the
historic homes. My 12 year old son felt safe on your island and
really enjoyed it all. We hope to be there again this year if our
house is available. If you haven't been to Fripp, this is the year to
do it. We highly recommend it.
Can you please let me know how to contact the Beach Club via the
internet. I would like to be certain that my dues for next year have
been set up since I never received my statement. kemmere@ibm.net Wayne
Kemmerer 303 Deer Pointe Court Fripp Island, SC.
A friend of mine,Mike Buckley, has a vacation home on Fripp. We go
down twice a year to play golf and relax. I have yet to find a better
managed island or resort. Both courses are excellent and challenging
for any golfer. The weather and views are also hard to beat. 1/10/97
We visited this lovely Island as a family getaway on June of 95. We
couldn't have asked for a more perfect family trip. We loved: the
ocean view, the beach, the ocean breezes, the dolphins, the hammerhead
shark, the pool, our condo, the resturants, the golf-cart, the shells,
the sand dollars, the birds, the tropical storm (we could have done
with out,but it added to the entire trip). We would go back in a
heart beat, and will. P.S. My husband and younger son recommend
staying clear of the hammerheads!!!
I have been spending christmas at Fripp for several years (as well as
summer vacations). You must see the sunset from the south end of the
island at Skull Inlet. The marsh board- walk is very nice. The deer
are unafraid (and numerous) since they are not hunted. The new cabana
has a heated pool and hot tub. One of the state's best secrets.
Thursday is oyster night at the Pelican's Perch. 11/23/96
Need information.
My parents have lived at Fripp for several years so we visit at least
monthly. Best place to crab: Fripp inlet in knee deep water with
chicken pieces; best flounder fishing: off the rocks at Newhaven. The
new Davis Love JR. golf course is great!
I've been to Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach and many other
beach retreats but nothing compares to Fripp Island. Do you like
a vacation away from it all? Fripp's the place. Prefer an active vacation?
Fripp's the place. I guess my favorite part about Fripp is that you
can rent golf carts to drive around the island. What a great
way to really get to see the island. I'll be back!
