Designed by Rees Jones and opened in 1983, Oyster Reef was quickly lauded as one of the country's best new resort courses and has remained one of the most popular layouts with Islanders and guests alike. It is also one of the Island's most formidable tests from the 7,027-yard championship tees. Its numerous doglegs - accented by rolling mounds and fairway bunkers - require both length and accuracy, and large greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots. The par three 6th hole, playing 160 yards to a spectacular waterfront green, is one of the Island's most beautiful golf holes, and the two par four finishing holes, 17 and 18, both stretch more than 450 yards.
