Golf Hilton Head, SC
Shipyard Golf Club
Shipyard Plantation
Located in Shipyard Plantation, Shipyard Golf Club offers 27
of the most challenging holes found anywhere. The well
protected pins call for accurate short and medium
irons and the large, but tricky, greens call for a skilled
putter. Designed by George Cobb and Willard Byrd, Shipyard
was the scene of the Hilton Head Seniors
Invitational in 1982, '83 and '84. this spectacular
layout wanders through tall Pines, Magnolias,
and moss-draped Oaks with countless
lagoons to add to the challenge. Shipyard is a fun and enjoyable
tract for
all skill levels, designed to reward the longer,
accurate shots of the low handicapper, but does
not unfairly penalize the higher handicapper. It is one
of the favorite resort courses not only for
the course, but also for its clubhouse and staff.
