Hello from Hilton Head Island!
I didn't want to start with that old clich? you know the one -
"Having a great time! Wish you were here!". But I don't know of any
other way to describe my vacation here. South Carolina is such a
beautiful state and the ocean islands are just incredible.
 The
drive here was pretty normal - it seems like all Interstates look the
same. And then we turned off the highway and turned onto some of the
most exquisite countryside you've ever seen! Huge, old oaks dripping in
Spanish Moss and family-run vegetable stands lined the narrow, winding
road. I can't imagine a better way to start the vacation!
 Then
to discover the beach.... Hilton Head Island has the widest beach I've
ever seen. Amazed doesn't accurately describe my feelings when I
stepped out onto that hard-packed beach and watched as families whizzed
by on bicycles. Bicycle riding on the beach is very popular and
probably rivals tennis and golf for popularity on the island. After I
finish this postcard, I'm off to the rental shop - I've never ridden on
a beach before!
