Planning to visit in March 1999. Would like information on Oceancreek
Resort and Crown Reef Hotel. Please share any comments or mailing
address. Also ideas for a family of 6??? Happy holidays.
Hi, I am planning a vacation to Myrtle Beach in March for 6 family
members. We are all adults, and never have been there. I am just
curious to know what to expect. I am planning on staying a the Holiday
Inn Independent. I also would like any comments on which (north or
south) end to stay at. Thanx, Denise(mark1954@vbe.com)
My fiance and I would like to be married in Myrtle Beach the weekend
of Dec. 12. I know that at one time there was a wedding chapel by the
sea but do not know how to contact them if they are still around. Can
you help? Debbie Barker

wonderful state as me a 3 friends wanna play in mid feburary my

My family and I go to Myrtle Beach every summer. We own a timeshare at
the Yatschman. This is on the oceanfront and provides a great view. It
is located right on Pier 14. We often go there for breakfast, lunch or
dinner. Also it plays bands at night and we have an excellent time.
The Yatschman is a very comfortable place to stay. It is very family
oriented. They provide a list of activities for the kids and the
adults all week. Including two days of Kid's night out. Where the
kid's are under the supervision of the staff and the parent's can have
a relaxing evening by themselves. I reccommend the Yatschman to anyone
traveling to Myrtle Beach. It also has a hotel part to it also. My
experience at the Yatschman has always been an excellent and very
memorable one. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on the Beach. Thank you.
Hi there, we are planning a vacation to Charlotte for Christmas to
visit family and are looking into spending a few days in Mytle Beach.
We are looking for a nice place to stay, and some comments on what to
do. We have been looking at Condos etc.
I'm a senior in high school and we heard of a week there that is
called Senior Week. Were trying to plan our trip for the week of this
Senior Week. I was wondering if anyone could inform me about the dates
of this week. Also, I was wondering if anyone could give me info about
the best hotels or accomadations for a group of nine high school
seniors. We are looking to have the best time of our lives before we
all leave eachother and head off to college. If anyone could help me
out, please e-mail me at louisekb@hotmail.com Thanks-Kari Brinkmeier
i want to know some of the prices for rooms at SEA QUEST and CAPTIAN
QUARTERS for easter spring break in April! ok thanks
3D My husband & I just returned from our 4th trip to MB.We are the
proud parents of Jeni, one of the Beautiful Dancers at Legends in
Concert. If anyone wants to be truly entertained, go see the show. Tha
talent is unsurpassed and extremely entertaining. the theatre has its
own convenient parking, and bring the kids, they too will love it.You
can have your picture taken with your favorite"star" and get
an autograph after the show!!!! Say hello to Martin, the manager of
the Theatre & his beautiful wife,Jeni the choreographer. You will
find alot od hospitality here and have a wonderful night at the
theatre too! =09
I stayed at the LONGBAY RESORT in Sept. of '97 and loved it! The rooms
are beautiful and spacious. Rates are reasonable for a 5 star hotel.
Do NOT stay at the BEACH COLONY RESORT. It's not nearly as nice... and
just as expensive (The deals at Longbay are better). I spent the
weekend there last month (Oct.'98) and will not go there again. BTW,
does anyone know of the SANDCASTLE in N. Myrtle Beach? I saw it from
the outside; it's across the street from the ocean... near Forest
Dunes. Jackie bunny-jo@webtv.net
My family and I will be arriving in Myrtle Beach on March 29, 1999,
and will be there for 4 nights. Are there any special events coming
during that time that we would need to make reservations now? Also, we
have never been to that area before, so we need a list of things we
shouldn't miss. It will be my husband and myself and two 14 year olds.
Thanks for any information you can provide. Kathy H. Garrett 11275

Sirs, Am considering a one month rental (February) in the Myrtle Beach
area. are there any fittness or health clubs in the area?
I am a sponsor of the Beta Club. We are state winners in the group
talent contest. We are planning to go to the National Convention in
June of 1999. We are going to have activities at the Convention
Center. I would like to know of a hotel that is walking distance away
since we will need to go back and forth at least five different times
in four days. The hotel needs to be "teenager" friendly as
my group will include 60 teenagers. Being walking distance from the
beach is also important. What hotel fits both criteria?
We will making our first visit to Myrtle Beach June 1999. Have heard
some wonderful things about the area. Will be traveling with a 11 yr
old and 14 yr old. Saw brochures on Bluewater Resort that looked very
desirable. Would appreciate any tips and comments from anyone who may
have stayed there.
My ten year old son and I are going to Myrtle Beach over Thanksgiving
weekend. We have a 2 bedroom ocean front condo booked at the Kingston
Plantation. I have heard this is quite the place. We have Friday night
reservations at the Stampede, Saturday night at Alabama Theater. I
have heard there is a place with all you can eat King Crab legs.
Anyone know the name of this place? Tell ;you all about it when we
get back.
We hit myrtle for the fist time last feb. and loved it. We're
planning a trip for jan99, and want some feedback from people on who
have done the due on a low budget. Last year we stayed at the crown
reef annd it was fabulous, but it seems just out of reach of our
wallets with the current exchange rates.
I am trying to set up a senior class trip for my high school in
Toledo, Ohio. We decided to go to Myrtle Beach, SC. I am seeking
information on travel packages to include water parks, a hotel on or
in close proximity of the beach, site attractions, and clubs that
allow teenagers to attend. Any other information i can receive would
be gfreatly appreciated. We intend to go to Myrtle Beach in May. We
also desire the Northside of Myrtle Beach. Thanks
I am looking for an oceanfront cottage, not a resort. If anyone has
any information about cottages please email me. Thanx
Myself and around 10 friends will be visiting Myrtle Beech early next
year ( around Feb ) from London, England. All I'm after is a bit of
help on deciding where to stay. Its a friends stag week, and we will
be spending 5 days there. We are all worth a few quid so money is no
real object, and will be looking for somewhere nice. Also close to
golf courses. One last thing can anyone help with the Night life and
what the Clubs are like and the best ones to go to. Thanks for all
your help
We have rented a house at Litchfield for the months of Jan and Feb
1999. We are wanting to find a golf course or courses that may offer a
monthly membership so we would not have to pay full greenfees to play
each time. Do you have any knowledge of a course or two that may make
this kind of arrangement or could you recomend someone to us that may
know? Thanks Ed
I would like to find out events (art receptions at galleries and
museums) next weekend when I will be attending the above conference
for my state. I am also interested in scuba diving/snorkeling and/or
sailing. I have never been to Myrtle Beach and am looking forward to a
short visit. On Sunday and Monday, I will have free time all day and
evening to scout around this area. If you could email me concerning
information about your area and interesting things to do, (I'd love to
visit studios of other artists - I am a painter and teacher) this
would be most welcome. Also, any "loop" driving excursions
and interesting historic places would be very helpful. I attended a
Montana conference similar to this one and people were most helpful on
the Internet. Are there any national parks or state parks in this
area? I will be contacting my local sources but I thought this would
be a great way to find out something I might ordinarily miss.
Sincerely yours, Ival Kovner, 15 Worthington Street, Dedham, MA 02026

Hello- Could you please give me an idea of the average weather (in
temperatures and rainfall) for early December in your area? Thanks,

Planning a honeymoon. Thinking of staying at CROWN REEF RESORT. Have
you been there? Any comments, warnings, or suggestions, please email
me.(djdix@hewitt.com)
My husband and I have vacationed in Myrtle Beach for the last eight
years. Our normal stay lasts two weeks. The Palace Hotel is the place.
Last year my father bought a condo in Garden City and we continue to
enjoy Myrtle Beach even though we stay a little south. We still enjoy
coming to the big city at night and on selected days. Although we
still enjoy a great hotel on occasion I recommend trying condo life at
least once. Check with Garden City Reality regarding SEA MYSTIQUE in
Garden City. Remember winter time is not just for ski trips. Thank
you for you time and space. hotwheel@preferred.com
Husband and I planning to come down week of Oct. 26th. Rented a 32' RV
and are considering Pirateland for the duration. Have never been to
MB, and have no idea what to expect for weather. (Winter or Summer
clothing?) Any suggestions on what to see, do, other campgrounds that
someone may prefer over Pirateland (but very close or on the beach)
would be greatly appreciated!!! We've never RV'd before, either, so
this whole trip should be worth a lot of Kodak film! Thanks in
advance.
Looking to find some special package deals with condos and the
Christmas shows for this year (1998). Is there any condos offering a
deal to stay there AND a discount to the Christmas shows? No need for
air flight - will drive to Myrtle Beach. Please e-mail any info on
this! Thanks!
My wife and I are coming down for a week in November. My son and
daughter-in-law will be joing us for a few days and they are
vegetarians. Any suggestions for restaurants?
Hey, We will be going to Myrtle Beach in November for a short 3 day
getaway. There will be two family's (two adults, and two adults and
one child) and we will probably be looking for a two bedroom
anything. I will be playing golf, by myself, one of those days. If
anyone knows of a nice place that would be a good fit, please E-mail
me.
I am thinking of going to Mrytle Beach for a short 4 day stay at the
end of November. I am only going there for the golf. Is the weather
good enough for golfing? Is it the rainy season? Also I can only get a
flight into Raleigh, NC, do you know how far a drive that is? thank
you
Has anyone stayed at BEACH DUNES?? Is it a nice place to stay? Is it
clean? Friendly staff? Please e-mail me your experiences at BEACH
DUNES. My boyfriend are visiting in mid October, 1998. We got a great
deal on oceanfront room for 6 nights!! About $28/night!! Can't wait!!

One of the highlights of our trips to MB is eating at K & W. We
would like very much to have one in our home area. How do we contact
them to make this request?
URGENT!!This is going to be our second time to visit Myrtle Beach. We
go for the cheering competitions. Last year we stayed at the Pelican's
Landing, VERY nice and priced right. It was just TOO far from where
the kids were staying in the Holiday Inn (Ocean Blvd) and the
Convention Center. PLEASE help me find a REALLY CLEAN and nice place
to stay this year , that is close to the Holiday Inn, and the
Pavilion. Please email me
asap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks!
We will be going to myrtle beach for a dance competition July 18,
l999. Will need something for the week. Prefer a condo. Wanted to stay
near or next to convention center however people are saying that it is
not a nice area near convention center. Also if it is not they are
saying to stay at north m b. Please advise of condo, 2 bedrooms for 2
adults and one child. Need to book about 7 or 8 of these condos.
Parent's would like to stay in the same area. Need help. Not sure if I
am e mailing correct party. Thanks . CHRIS SAKELLARIOU 681 CULPEPPER

We went to Myrtle Beach Sept 18, 1998 and stayed at the Sand Dunes.
The people there were rude, and when our luggage got lost on the
airlines and were delivered to the hotel later that night, the STAFF
did not even tell us our luggage was there. We asked for a non smoking
room and got stuck with a room that a bunch of cigar-smoking
conventioneers must have just stayed in. I wrote a Myrtle Beach
website about our trip I hope people will check out. Had a BLAST
there.....we are from California and it was just a different
experience for us. Just the hotel was a disappointment.

Hi, Will be heading to Myrtle Beach in July of 1999. We are looking
for a nice and inexpensive place to stay on the beach. Is there such a
thing? Any help would be appreciated.
Just wanted to recount my experience at the FIREBIRD MOTOR INN during
this past Memorial Day weekend. If you're a family that's looking for
an affordable, clean room in a nice family motel, the Firebird is
excellent. The staff was always extremely helpful. We got to use their
two pools and lazy river on oceanfront, as well as the pools at the
Reef, their sister hotel next door. They've even got a sign that they
change every day with the name of a family, and how long they've
stayed at the Firebird. They had families that had stayed there for 15
years or more! Their number is 1-800-852-7032.
me and my husband are going to stay at the LONG BAY RESORT does anyone
have an opinion on this place? thanks Jay and Christy
We have stayed at the Landmark Resort 3 times now and it is really
nice. Our grandkids love all the water sports there and they have one
"new section" and have remodled the older section. The only
problem we are having now is trying to find a time for everyone to
vacation together since due to the biker weekends we are never again
coming in May. There are two bikers weekends, the Harleys and the
Japanese Bike weekends. So we won't be back in May.
Stayed at the Patrica Grand North on 68th. Everything was great. I
recommend this hotel to all. Room layout was great also morning coffee
and donuts in lobby were a great way to start the day. 9/28/98
We have stayed at the Landmark Resort three times now and it is really
a nice place. They have a totally "new" section and they
have remodeled the "old" section. The amenities are great,
if you have kids they will love all the water things.
We have always used AAA for our travel needs. The agent had
recommended the Martinique Hotel on Ocean Blvd and we have been going
there for the last four years, usually toward the end of August. The
rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are friendly, indoor-outdoor
pool, jacuzzis in and out, free coffee in your room.I highly recommend
the Martinique Hotel. The last time we were there was Aug-98
Crocodile Rock at Broadway on the Beach is on our hit list of places
to go. The fun begins at 8:00 with dueling pianos, audience
participation and high energy from very talented piano players that
lasts until closig. These performers play anything and everything from
the 50's - 90's based on requests. This place ROCKS!!! Over 21 crowd
only. (July 1998)
Anyone interested in exceptional food, visit Umberto's at Barefoot
Landing. I go three time per year since I have computer conferences at
M.B all the time. I was so impressed, I volunteered to make a home
page for them. Visit it at: http://www.uscsumter.edu/~stevea/umbertos
Have fun!
Does anyone have any opinions on the CONDOTELS in Garden City
(S.Myrtle Bch)? I'm considering a stay there. Any input would be
appreciated. Thank you much!
I am planning a trip to Myrtle Beach during the first week of October.
Have been looking on the web for a place to stay. Does anyone have any
comments on the Roxanne or the Firebird?
A friend and I stayed at Court Capri hotel September 18- 20, 1998. We
were very disappointed. We asked for a oceanview room and they claim
we had one. We were on the 8th floor and our balcony looked out at
Ocean Drive. To see the ocean you had to go out on the balcony, lean
over the railing, and look between the Court Capri hotel and the one
next to it. I do not consider that oceanview.
Planning a trip to MB in 2 weeks. Could someone comment on the Ocean
Sands Resort, 1525 South Ocean Blvd. Thank You
My fiance and I are planning to go to Myrtle Beach on our honeymoon.
We are getting married on June 12, 1999, and are looking for a nice
place, oceanfront, with affordable rates. The Captain's Quarters looks
like a nice place to stay, but I'm sure that it will cost a pretty
penny. We would be glad to get any information on where to stay, what
the service is like, and rate information. So please, e-mail me at:
blantsr@wku.edu Thanks!
Hey...Traveled to Myrtle Beach with 3 other girlfriends- August 5-8,
1998- Stayed at Cadillac Court - Boulevard Side -- wrong move! When we
walked in the room, the smell was about to knock us over and the couch
was disgusting. We were afraid to sit on it, so we put down a blanket.
Moreover, it was supposed to be a two room suite -- it looked as
though someone just put up a partition and placed a bed and dresser in
there! We dealt with it, but next time we want to stay somewhere worth
our money! Any suggestions? I looked at the previous comments on the
travelogues, but I need help!!! Thanks!
3DStayed at the Breakers on 27th st. Good package deal. Had only 1
bell hop during check in times, so wait=20 or carry your own. Room
with the view was nice, cleaned=20 well each day. Breakfast was hot.
Pools where clear, lots of chairs to lay on. Elevator kept breaking
down was a pain Front desk help was nice. No bar lounge. Not a lot of
frills but I would stay there again. Have been to Martinque and=20
Ocean Dunes would prefer those first though, but they cost more.
9-10-98=20
3D Stayed at the Breakers on 27th st. Good package deal. Played
Caledonia, very nice, Beechwood was a track not impressed, Eagles
Nest was not to bad played rather nice, Riverhills was a little
better than Beechwood Wedgwood-would not recommend probalbley really
nice at one time Gauntlet at St James. Very nice, take good care of
it was=20 worth the extra drive
Been to M.B. 7x in the last 4 years both with my non golfer wife and
with 3 other friends. We have gone either in April or November. We are
planing our 3rd annual golf trip for this Nov. What has been clearly
the case that the fairways and greens have been in excellent shape in
April but have been in less than top shape by Nov. We generally stay
at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort and play their courses which are
very nice. Played Caledonia 2 years ago Nov and it was in excellent
shape but we hit it on a freezing windy day and really couldn't
appreciate it. Played Tradition when it was first opened and the grass
hadn't grown in. Will probably play it this trip. I have played
Tidewater several times, nice course, good shape this past April but
really don't know why its rated #1. I enjoyed playing it but $100.??
Played Blackmoor, liked it, a little easier than some. My higher
handicap friends liked Seagull. Wasn't in the best of shape last Nov.
We are thinking of pickin! g up Heritage or Pawleys Plantat ion this
trip. Does any body have some very current experiences. What courses
are in good shape now (Fall 1998). By the way if your at M.B. don't
miss the Legends in Concert show. September 1998
My wife and I have been to myrtle beach 3 times since being married.
Our first reservation was at Caroline's Bed and Breakfast, which I am
glad to say no longer exists. We have enjoyed staying at Beach Colony
Resort. The staff is very pleasant and the rooms are clean and unique
in design just like Beach Cove Resort. We plan to bring our parents to
the beach in October and will be making a reservation at Beach Colony.
We recommend that everyone stay there at least once. You will love it!
Wendell Highsmith, Jr.
Last year my friends and I stayed at the Blue Water Resort. The room
we had was unacceptable, since the carpet was frayed and the metal
combs that held it in place were not nailed down. As a result I
stepped on one of the metal combs, and I complained to management. The
person at the desk was very uncaring and offered no assistance. When I
returned home, I sent a formal complaint, requesting a refund,
however, to this date I have not heard back from Blue Water Resort. I
returned at Christmas time and stayed at the Landmark, and the
room/service was impeccable. Since the Landmark was booked the period
I needed to stay, I will be staying at Jonathan Harbour for vacation
this year.
Hi When is the 99 Rally I have lots of friends planning to come down
can not find date on Web anywhere help me out. Thanks for any info
Brenda in Myrtle Beach
I've been coming to MB since the 50's. I have friends coming from
Lynchburg, Va first of October 98. Does anyone know of a motel,
cottage, hotel, etc. that will take l dog. Thanks
My husband, son and I were in Myrtle Beach from 6/19 to 6/28/98.We
stayed at the Patricia Grand this year and were very pleased with our
room. We stayed on the north end of the building and couldn't have
asked for a nicer view of the ocean. We could also watch what was going
on down on the street. The room was type G with separate bedroom and
living room and the dining table was set in a floor to ceiling glass
alcove with street view. The rooms were clean and the maid service was
good.I thought the lazy river was small but my 6 yr. old enjoyed it.It
was indoors so it gave him a chance to get out of the hot sun(we were
there in the middle of a heat wave!!) Other years we have stayed at
the Landmark; don't really have any complaints. It was very nice. Our
room was located on the 4th floor directly off the elevator and the
walkway to the parking garage so it was a little noisy at night . They
have a nice size lazy river and the restaurant ( The Gazebo) was
exellent. We have also stayed at Coral Beach. Your first impressions
are "Wow is this place nice or what?" Don't be fooled by
outward appearances. Our room was overpriced and the furniture was
beat up. The air conditioner in the bedroom was leaking and the carpet
on one side of the bed was soaked. In all fairness the place does have
alot to offer they just need to keep the rooms up better. We decided
to stay north of the pavillion this year so we chose the Patricia
Grand and will be returning there again next year. It is a bit less
hectic at that end of town and much easier to cross the street. A must
is the Pier 14 restaurant. It is located in front of the Yachtsman
resort .Nightly entertainment while dining and the food is out of this
world. Not to mention the view! On Tues. night Broadway at the Beach
has the best fireworks display I've ever seen. Capt. Hooks mini-golf
is great. Race fans have to go to The Nascar Cafe' the food is good
,the service friendly and the atmosphere is exciting. If you are into
water parks go to Wild Waters NOT Myrtle Waves. M.W. is $18.95 all day
and you have to pay $1.50 extra if you want a tube for the wave pool.
The lazy river is exactly that . It doesn't move you along at all.
That$18.95 is per/ person. Wild Waters is $16.95 per/person or $9.95
after 3:00pm. and you dont have to pay extra for a tube. The lazy
river moves you along nicely plus there are obstacles along the way
such as a wave channel and waterfalls that you can avoid or go through
depending on how you feel about having water dumped on you. Also they
have an excellent kiddie area . They also have go- carts .We love
Myrtle Beach .There is something for everyone. One more thing ;
Ripley's Aquarium is awesome and very relaxing and a great place to go
to get out of the heat ( it was103 degrees outside the day we were
there.) TRICIAMC56@ aol.com
Just booked vacation at The Long Bay Resort. Any input??

My husband & I are planning trip on Sept.11-19 to Myrtle Beach. We
are staying at The Riptide, our timeshare on the strip. We got married
in Myrtle Beach 3 years ago, so it's actually a 3rd anniversary trip.
Since I haven't used my timeshare here for 2 years, I was wondering if
there any new things to do-restaurants, clubs, attractions? Any
coupons or booklets would be appreciated =). Thanks!! Susan Adkins

My husband and I are planning on visiting Myrtle Beach on September
25, 1998 and are staying at The Yachtsman, any information or
feedback from anyone who has been there? Please email me at
bp@build.com. I would really appreciate knowing what to expect.
3DAfter traveling to Myrtle Beach many times, I have found a hotel in
which I will stay EVERY time I go. Dunes Village was clean, the staff
is very friendly and helpful, and it is in a quiet location. If you
are tired of all the dirty hotel rooms, try this one! (They also own
Pan-American) =20
Wanted: To rent for all or part of March & April '99. Prefer nice
R.V. set up on M.B. Travel Pk., Apache etc. Non smoking retired
Canadian couple with references.
We just cam back from our short vacation at MB (August '98).
Unfortunately Bonnie bit us. We had a great time while we could. We
stayed at the Tropical Winds. It was a very nice and pleasant stay. We
hope to stay there again on our next trip. Our rooms were quite
reasonable and they gave us just what we wanted! I would love to know
how the town made out during the hurricane. We headed south and never
were able to get much information on how my new favorite town made it.
I would appreciate any info.
Our vacation was a short one because of hurricane Bonnie, never the
less it was great. We stayed at the Captian's Quaters (Plush) but not
bad on the wallet. We're looking forward to going back soon. We pray
that the hurticane didn't do too much damage.
Just returned from Myrtle Beach 8/28/98. Some tips: 1. Bring your own
beach chairs and umbrellas. We stayed at the Caravelle and, unlike the
siutation at other beach vacation spots, the hotel does not supply
them for the guests. The price we were quoted was $20 per day for two
chairs and an umbrella. The lifeguards run the rental business. We
picked up two chairs for $13 and an umbrella for $40 from one of the
nearby souvenier / beach supply stores. 2. If you are evacuted due to
a hurricane (we were from Bonnie) be prepared to sit for three hours
just to get off the island. The National Guard / Police direct
traffic, at least in our experience, at intersections just off the
island. 3. Go see the Aquarium. The people mover "ride"
through the main tank is breathtaking. The only criticism is that
there is not enough explanation of what you are seeing, at least for
my taste. In that sense, the Baltimore aquarium does a better job.
One of your reader's asked for info on Water's Edge resort. I stayed
there in 1993. It was nice & clean but when they say Water's Edge
they mean it. When high tide comes in, the beach is gone. The water is
right at the end of the steps leading to the beach. Also, it is in
South MB and I prefer North MB for the shops & stores. So be
prepared to drive a ways if you like to shop.
Do you have any history of MB area from around 1915? Do you know what
hotels, etc, would have been there? If not, do you know someone else
who could help me? Thanks, marilyn m.
My husband and I have been going to MB for the past 4 years &
love it. There is so much to do there. A place particular where
we"ve stayed & enjoyed are Capatain Quarters in 12/97 , the
rooms were nice & service was friendly it was nice to have the
bowling alley & nice pools & lazy rivers available are all
wonderful for the kids. We have also stayed at Tropical Winds which is
located next door it was clean as well but liked Captains Quarters
much better. In Cherry Grove we stayed at the Sea Cabins Condos they
were very small and would never stay there.
We are planning our first visit to MB. My daughter will be three but
is in a wheelchair. Would like to find out if there are any places
handicapped accessible that are nice and if there are places to rent
beach wheelchairs. Thank you.
My wife and I have been going to for the past 7 years and have never
had a bad experience. We have stayed at the Breakers or one of the
Sands hotels. Best course by far is Caladonia. Other choices are
Oyster Bay, Moreland, The Dunes, and Tidewater. My wife's fav is
Blackmoor. For a great place to eat try Sam Sneads. Best ribs in town
and a oak grilled grouper that is tops.
08/27/98 - Linda We returned From Myrtle Beach Sunday 8/23/98 just
before Bonnie hit. We had the pleasure to stay for almost a week at
the new SandCastle South at 2207 S. Ocean Blvd. in N. Myrtle. We were
a party of 10(6 adults and 4 children 12,8,8 and 5) and shared two
efficiency suites. The amenities were clean and numerous. The hotel
was packed but it didn't feel overwhelming crowded. The staff was
couteous, friendly and helpful. If you needed something, and asked for
it, they usually came through (extra towels, pillows, directions,
etc.) The surroundings were also well kept and chairs and lounges were
plentiful. The kitchenettes were furnished for actual in room cooking
if that was desired. I felt the children were safe and respected. We
adults had as much fun as the kids in the lazy river and hot tubs.
Rooms were cleaned at our convenience. Parking was excellent and
plentiful. The pier was within walking distance. The prices were
comparable. We highly recommend the SandCas! tle and will be back next
year.
We have been traveling to Myrtle Beach for the past ten years and
have stayed at the Patricia Grand. We always are their the first week
in August and have always had a wonderful time. My daughter was 9
years old the first time we went and at seventeen refuses to go
anywhere else. For the last 5 years she has taken a girlfriend with
her and this year they both cryed when we left and did not want to
come home, and are already planning to go back next year. It is a
great family place with so much to do. I am already planning for next
year to.
Lodging=Carolina Winds url= feedback= Caroline Windes: Excellent condo
to stay in - on the northern end of Myrlt Beach (around 80th street).
It is far enough from the main Grand Strand area for some peach &
quiet, but close enought to the main area for great dinning &
entertainment. Best value is the 3 bedroom condos - always get a
southern exposure - they have ausome views of the ocean / strip.
Group of eight men travel to MB every year in March for seven years.
Our favorite residence is Leitchfield because they can accomodate all
eight in one 4 bedroom condo with a large kitchen (like we use it) and
a hugh TV room. Beacause we stay south we normaly play Caledonia
& Blackmoor on Day 1; A pair of courses in the center of MB and
one course in the north. We try new courses every year and are seldom
disappointed. Two years ago we went to Man O' War and found they
double-booked the tee times. We could not make our second tee time.
Any new suggestions are appreciated. We understand that MB National is
a must play. What else?
We are going to Myrtle Beach September 4 - 7, 1998. We are staying at
the Sea Banks Motor Inn. Can anyone respond and let me know if you
know anything about this motor inn? I have been going to Myrtle Beach
since I was 5 years old but have not been in the past five or six
years. PLEASE let me know how good or bad it is. THANKS!
We stayed at the Swamp Fox (Swampfox.com)the first week of August. It
was great! The room was clean, the staff accomodating, the facilities
above average. The pools were too cold for our Floridian blood,
however. We only ate breakfast at the on-site restaurant, but it was
very good. Restaurants: We wanted a special place to celebrate our
25th wedding anniversary, and scoured all the reviews and books. We
finally selected **The Library**. It was exquisite - intimate, not too
formal, and quiet. The food was outstanding the service perfect.
Richard, our waiter, made it a memorable occasion for us. DON'T BOTHER
WITH THE FARM HOUSE! Over an hour wait, most of the food came out of a
can. Crabby Mike's Calabash - it was O.K., but overpriced, I think. If
you like fried food, good selection. Unlimited crab legs, delicious
she-crab soup. Spring House - good, simple food at very reasonable
prices. A great place for families with kids.
I want everyone to know how awful the experience was staying at the
Sea Crest Hotel at Myrtle Beach. After driving 12 hours to get to our
long-awaited spot for a nice vacation we were greeted with a filty
dirty room - urine on the sheets, food everywhere on the carpeting
and a staff which total ignored or complaint! Even the manager of the
hotel said "sorry but we don't have enought staff to
clean". After seven days we were given some sheets - no one ever
came to clean and we were offered one night at half rate for our
inconvenience! Never again will we stay there! I hope others will
look elsewhere for a room - don't take a chance on the Sea
Crest!!!!!!!!!!! August, 1998.
My children and I are going to Myrtle Beach in May 1999 for the bike
rally. Does anyone have any suggestions where to stay on the north
end. I have been down to MB a few times without my children. This tim
I am taking them. Anyone have any ideas. The kids are 4 and 5.
Somewhere reasonable?? dfeller@sprint.ca
The Sand Castle was clean and located centrally to attractions. MB is
a wonderful place and I highly recommended staying there. Been going
to Ocean City MD for years myrtle beach rocks!!!! One more thing the
waitress at the Sand Castle in the morning is WAY TO HAPPY!!!
If there is such a thing as myrtle beach real estate/condo/beach house
rental catalog,I would much like to have one . Thankyou for time.David

I plan to visit Myrtle Beach (my first time) in September. I have
reservations at the new Holiday Inn, 1200 North Ocean Blvd. Any
comments would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
we just returned from our third year in a row at myrtle beach 8-15-98.
my husband two sons and i all really enjoy the beach. we stay at the
caribbean resort we find it to be a very nice hotel, on ocean blvd
but not to close to downtown. we walk down to the pavillion along the
beach. i would recommend this resort to families.
3DJust got back from M.B. Eight glorious days of sun, beach, food= ,
and golf. Stayed at the Landmark Resorts. Nice room, plenty of water
attractions (numerous indoor and outdoor pools and lazy rivers), but
the place is HUGE. Always had to wait at least five minutes for the
elevators (we were on the 14th floor). A car is a must. No matter
where you want to go... it's a drive from whereever you are. If you're
renting a car by the mile you'll get killed. Plenty of food places.
Our favorites were NASCAR and HOOTERS. The food was large portions and
great quality. Also the atmosphere was fantastic. Judge carefully the
seafood buffets. Thereare tons. We tried STEERS and was greatly
disapionted. =20 Golf courses played were Racoon Run (run down,
fairways and greens were beat up, muni courses in NJ are in better
shape but it's the best priced deal in town) Gator HJole ( beautiful
course GREEN GRASS everywhere, very scenic but the staff was not
friendly) ?Possom Trot ( nice course, varying holes, great shape,
friendly staff)=20
Just got back from a week at MB. Had a great time, even with rainy
weather. Hit the Hard Rock (wasn't impressed), Nascar Cafe (good food,
fast service), Planet Hollywood, All Star Cafe (had the best food of
all of them), Olive Garden, and Bennetts Calabash Seafood (plenty of
choices besides seafood). Loved Celebrity Circle at Broadway at the
Beach!! Crocodile Rocks was GREAT!! It was well worth the $5 cover.
Also if you love Southern Rock go to the Easyriders Cafe. Great band
called Three Legged Dog was playing. They had no cover charge and good
drink specials. We loved just goin to the upstairs bar area, playin
pool and listening to the band. Fat Tuesdays was great too, have to
check out the daquiri setup. We also hit the rest of Broadway at the
Beach. Very nice stores, nice enviornment. Loved the aquarium but
forgot my camera for it :( Recommend you learn some of the side
streets fast or else you will be stuck in traffic alot. Also there are
coupon books everywhere, use them. I really wanted to go to Murrells
Inlet but didn't get a chance. Its ok though...already planning on
goin back next year!!!!
My husband and I are taking a bus trip to Mrytle Beach in September.
While there we are on our own during the day and hopefully will find
interesting things to do using the local transportation. I am looking
for day trips offered from Mrytle Beach in September 1998. A listing
of companies that offer these would be helpful or the local tourist
information office address or Chamber of Commerce. It would also be
helpful to find out about the flea market and how to get there besides
taking a taxi. Map of the city showing the sites of attractions would
help too. Thanks.
My boyfriend and I visited Surfrider Hotel in North Myrtle Beach on
August 6, 1998 and was very pleased. The room was very spacious. It
had a great ocean view and had a jacuzzi in the room. The room service
was very good and the staff overall was very friendly and courteous.
So I disagree with the individual that had several negative comments
about Surfrider. We also had a great time at Boardwalk at the Beach in
North Myrtle Beach. We will definitely be visiting North Myrtle Beach
again in the future and we will also be staying at Surfrider!
For the past 3 years our family has gone Myrtle Beach. There are so
many things to do and see. You will never be bored and everything is
so close and very easy to find. I have found that if you call the
chamber of commerce in Myrtle Beach S.C. they will send you a 200+
page book of every motel, hotel in that area. It is a colored 8 x 11
and gives pictures of the interior and exterior of the places to stay
as well as the shops and restaurants. This book will give prices on
everthing and the dates that they are opened. When you register with
the chamber of commerce brochures will be coming in the mail non-stop
which is great. Nobody will every call to sell you anything and you
can make your plans will all the information that you have received.
Our family usually goes in October which off season starts, but the
ocean is still warm to swim in and the temp. at Myrtle Beach is still
in the mid 70's to 80's, the rooms are cheaper,($27.00 a night for a
family of 4 on the oceanfront. who can beat that!) Every year we stay
at Tropical Seas which is a small but very nice place on the ocean. We
had a full kitchen, indoor/outdoor pool, breakfast was $1 each and so
was lunch (which is served there). Enjoy your vacation there because
we do every year and will continue to go there every October.
OWNERS/RENTERS: Whatever you do, DO NOT USE RESORT MANAGEMENT
SERVICES. This firm is dishonest, disreputable and unethical and I
understand they have already had at least one lawsuit filed against
them. Renters beware - they'll take your money and you will not be
happy with your vacation. Use another agency or rent from an owner.
You'll be alot happier.
We recently returned from our first vacation at Myrtle Beach. We were
there from 8/2/98 to 8/8/98. I wish I could say that it was great, but
I can't. The main part of our problem was the accomadations. We stayed
at the Swamp Fox. I will say that the people were very nice and did
try to accomadate us. Our ocean front room was on the sixteenth floor.
We rode an elevator from hell to get there. The elevator shook and
made all kinds of noises. We questioned the safety on our future
trips. At one time or other, we had different odors in the room and
outside the room. As I said, the staff did try to fix things, but
first impressions stayed with us. Our ocean front view room turned out
to be an obstructed view room with various creatures crawling on the
balcony. I figure these creatures came from the obstruction, a
concrete box with unmaintained plants that had an oder. If anyone in
the future is staying at the Swampfox on the sixteenth floor in an
ocean view room, make sure it is one of the un-obstructed view rooms.
Another disappointment was the beach. I thought it was very dirty.
There were broken shells all over as well as garbage; cans, paper,
fireworks, cigeratte butts, and other misc. junk. I even saw broken
glass. As I walked farther north, I think the beach did get nicer. At
the beach, the lifeguards have to rent chairs out instead of doing
their main job that needs to be done. We stayed out of the room as
much as possible. On the positive side, Broadway at the Beach,
Barefoot Landing, the Waterparks, and the various eating
establishments were great. If we had better accomadadtions, I think
the trip would be much better. I would go back to Myrtle Beach, but aI
would not stay at the Swampfox again. If anyone has any questions,
feel free to E-mail me at Yadash@aol.com. We did check out other
places to stay while we were there.
My father is moving to south carolina and needs to find living
arrangements in Horrey County for a 95 year old uncle of his. I think
we need a retirement home or assisted living. Money is not too much of
an issue. I will be there visiting August 19-25, 1998 and would like
to tour some facilities. Can someone connect me to a resource to find
out about nursing homes?
We are trying to locate a campground in South Myrtle Beach/Pawleys
area that allow us to picket-line our horses at the camper and ride on
the beach. This will be for the Thanksgiving 1998 holiday weekend.
SUBJECT: NASCAR CAFE The nascar cafe needs to learn when to make a
buck, and when not too. All my son talked about last year was going
to the Nascar Cafe to see Jeff Gordons car and maybe a picture of it.
Well after a dinner that cost over 35.00 for two adults and two
children under the age of 4 we decided to walk around the lobby.
There it was Jeff gordon's car, my son had eyes like silver dollar's.
he ran up yo it and wanted to get in for a picture, when suddenly a
women stopped him and told him, 6 dollars please. He said " I
just want a picture of it next to me", still again " 6
dollars" His heart almost broke, this the car with the driver
that millions of kids look up to as a role model of good morels and
faith, and now all I can think of is what a bunch of crap. too make
an extra 6dollars off a childs dream and only want of the entire
vacation. This is very low and almost evil. It's a good thing there
are parents to help nurture a child when there biggest role model lets
them down for a lousy 6 dollars, when the week before he won almost a
million dollars, plus endorsments. Well there is the story, you
decide if you want to go there , I don't believe we will be going
back. Oh yea, by the way, they have a Dale Earnhardt car there also,
same price. JMS

looking for a clean, reasonable, close to everything hotel/motel.
OCEAN ANNIES!!!!!!!!! The best place in Myrtle Beach to relax, party
and catch some rays! My husband and I have been going since 1994 on
our yearly vacation. Now, we have two other couples that joined us
last year and we're making it a tradition. We usually go in late
August or early September. I usually have to make an extra trip with a
group of girls in June or July. We've stayed at Shipwatch, Pelicans
Watch, A Place at the Beach, Sands Ocean Club, Sands Beach Club and
this year we're stayin at Maison sur Mur. I can't wait! We'll be there
Aug. 22-29. It's always been a good experince in this area. It seems
to be close to just about everything. There's no other beach-MYRTLE
BEACH.
my fave to eat in m.b. is the crab house. it is great.
08/10/98 We are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach and wondered if
anyone knows anything about the Sea Dip Hotel are a hotel that would
be on the beach that isn't to expensive?? Please email me and let me
know. Thanks, Denise
We just got back from visiting Myrtle Beach. We stayed in North
Myrtle Beach at Tilghmans Beach Resort Condos. It was a nice place.
It was clean and kept up well. We ate at Bennett's(a waste), bypass
it for sure.Unless you like Duff's, then you will feel right at home.
Hard Rock Cafe was great, nobody complained about the food(get a pig
sandwich),T-Bonz was excellent! If you like Italian eat at Tony's(great
atmosphere)They have a man with a quitar singing from table to
table. We also ate at Outrigger's, it was Ok. None of us were impressed
with the food, but the service was great. We really expected better food
for the money. Fuddrucker's at Barefoot landing had great burgers! The
restaraunts at Barefoot landing is the only good thing I can say about
that place! Go to Broadway at the Beach, that's the place to go!You
have to see Ripley's Aquarium! They also have a lazer show at night at
Broadway. There are all kind of Putt- Putt courses for the kids.
Their favorite was Mayday Golf in North Myrtle Beach. For a great tour
boat ride...Go on the Sea Screamer, located in Little River. The kids
loved it, it a huge speed boat. You go out on the ocean and we got to
see dolphins. I almost forgot. If you want good homemade ice cream.
Stop at Painters on Kings Highway in North Myrtle Beach.
I have never been to MB before and am trying to arrange a family
vacation but have to find something that will please the in-laws
among others. Need something nice, clean, and quiet but relatively
close to golf, beaches, shopping and food. Initially looking at
accomodations in the Pawleys Island location. Would appreciate greatly
any first hand accounts. Thanks.
Lodging=The Palace url= feedback= The Palace is a very nice and clean
hotel.. it has great service, nice spacious rooms, and great
management.
As a kid my parent's took my 2 brother's and myself to MB on an annual
basis & we loved it. next year (July/99) my wife & I will be
taking our 3 kids (8, 12 & 16) to MB for they're first
experience. I was wondering if anyone had any info on the campground's
in the area. We have received brochures from all, however, if anyone
has been to the campgrounds and has any remark's (good or bad) It
would sure help us in our decision. I'm hoping my kid's vacation will
be as memorable to them, as mine were to me.
I intend to take my family down to Myrtle Beach July/99. As a kid, my
parent's brought me & my 2 brother's to MB on a yearly basis and
we each have special memories of it. Now it's my turn to take our 3
kid's who will be 8, 12 & 16. I was wondering if anyone had any
info regarding campgrounds in the MB area. We have received all the
brochures however, if anyone has recommendations, we'd be pleased to
hear from you. Craig & Val
We go to Myrtle Beach at least twice a year. Condotels will always do
good by you. Look out for Myrtle Beach Resort...my cousins booked a
room because they couldn't get into One Ocean Place (very nice).
Nasty, smelly, and roaches!! MBR wouldn't give them a refund, or a
better room.
Myrtle Beach is a great place to go to just relax. Even though there's
so much to do, I never feel tired when returning home. My favorite
places to visit are the pavillion, Broadway at the Beach, and the
beach itself. When visiting Broadway, you must visit the Fudgery
across from Yamato's Japanese Steakhouse. The kids working there give
a great show when explaining and making fudge. They have a great time.
My favorite night spot is Crocodile Rock, the club with the dueling
pianos. It is the best party atmosphere you can have. When visiting
Myrtle Beach, I make it a point to go there. It is located at
Celebrity Square at Broadway at the Beach. The Ripley's Aquarium is
great too and for great calabash seafood, visit Steere's or Seafare in
Merrills Inlet. My last visit was 8/98 and I hope to go back before
cold weather.
Myrtle Beach, SC is a repeat vacation spot for me. Every time I go
there they've got some new construction underway and have completed
construction of something else. When I visit, I have always stayed at
the Viking Motel. It's a family owned and operated motel and they've
always treated me great! Every time I've stayed there, there was some
kind of improvement since my last stay. The staff is always courteous
and friendly. This place is right on the beach! They have wonderful
beach front rooms and lots of parking. In fact, they let other motels
use there parking, because it's in such demand, and they still have
plenty.
We stayed at the Captain's Quarters from 8/2 to 8/5 and had a great
time. The staff is helpful and gives prompt service. The rooms are
clean and in good condition. The parking deck was full by 10:30 or
11:00 each night. We have a three year old and an 18-month old. We
found lots of activities for them at both Barefoot Landing and
Broadway at the Beach. Ripley's Aquarium was impressive. We went to
both Family Kingdom and the Pavilion, and found Family Kingdom to be
better for the children. The highlight of the week for me was the
Nascar Cafe. Best ribs I've ever eaten. Michael was our 'driver'.
Ultimate California Pizza was good. Do not go to the IHOP on King's
Highway and about S. 14th. Ave. The orange juice was watery. We
planned our whole trip based on comments from this webpage. Thanks to
all who made submissions. R. Kenneth McFalls
We spent a long weekend at Myrtle Beach 7/31/98. We stayed for one
night at the Patricia North due to recommendations we read on this
travelogue. We loved the hotel and the rooms are very nice. The
parking is a different story. The ramp to the parking lot is so steep
that my car could not go up the ramp even after scrapping. Another
couple in the elevator asked us at random, how many scratches our car
had received on the parking ramp. They said they received a new set
of scratches everytime they tried to leave the hotel. Even the person
that worked there stated that their car scratched everytime they
parked for work but at least they are getting paid not paying $155 for
a night. Parking downstairs is for conversion vans only. If you have
a car with ground effects or anything that could possibly drag, you
should be aware of the potential parking problem. The continental
breakfast was orange juice, coffee, and doughnuts. Several people
mentioned that there should be more choices. Crabby Mikes has a great
buffet and is worth the money although I wish they had an option of
buffet without crablegs so that I could go back and enjoy all of the
other delicious food.
Lodging=Sea Mist Resort url= feedback=Sea Mist Resort: This hotel has
something for children of all ages. It is still the favorite of my
teenage son as well as my 12 year old son. We have enjoyed this hotel
since my youngest son was a baby and loved the huge baby pool. I plan
to continue staying at Sea Mist even after my sons are grown. For
camping we like Ocean Lakes but hands down for hotels it's Sea Mist.
Just wanted to recommend Long Bay Resort to everyone. We stayed there
for the first time. Our condo was a three bedroom. It was great! View
was great! It has one outdoor pool, one indoor pool, kiddie pool, 4
whirlpools, and a 250 ft. lazy river. They also have programs for
kids in the afternoon. No unhappy guests! We loved it and would
recommend it to anyone. It's at 7200 Ocean Boulevard and is far
enough from the downtown mess.
Restaurants for the most part were wonderful. We had a BAD experience
at Planet Hollywood. They are not very accomodating to large groups.
We had nine in our group and were willing to break down to two or
three smaller groups. After waiting 2 1/2 hours, (almost 10 pm at
night), we decided to leave and go eat somewhere else. They weren't
interested in breaking us down to smaller groups. I'd suggest you
don't go there unless you have a very small group...or are willing to
spend countless hours waiting!
We like to are planning a vacation for next summer and would like to
find someplace on the beach that's clean and cheap. We don't want to
stay in a condo, there so big, we would like a smaller hotel We
stayed and the Firebird 3 years ago but would like to try something
else.
I visted Myrtle beach for the first time this year. I'm glad it was
only a weekend visit. I would not recommend Myrtle beach in general,
unless you are really into the teenager crusing scene. The beach was
dirty and filled with cigarette butts. The Hotel was even worse! We
stayed at the Sandcastle. I am ashamed to admit that I was conned into
spending $125.00 a night for a small non-ocean front room at this
place by a company called Carolina Golf. The room was dirty and in
need of renovation. The hallways were filthy. Worst of all I found
that the room was only $90.00/night. Carolina Golf later explained
away their overcharge as a "commission". Stay away from
Carolina Golf www.thecarolinagolf.com Pat
We are planning a trip to myrtle beach and would like to know of some
good places to stay. We have a six year old and would like some
activities to entertain him. Any suggestions?
Hi, could you please advise us on a good place to set-up a all
included beginners golf package...3nights, 4 rounds in the mrytle
beach area...need a one-stop shopping sort of speak package...plan so
far is...from, boston am on sep.2...return sep 5 pm...to bos. thanks

Hello, I'm trying to find out when the Shrine's parade in MB will be.
It's usually in September. Do you happen to know when it will be this
year? Thank You
We are going to myrtle beach on aug 9,1998 for a week where are some
good restaurants and things to do at nighrt and in the day if we want
to get out of the sun for awhile.
we are staying at breakers for 7 nights in aug. i have never been to
myrtle beach and picked breakers because it has indoor and outdoor
pools and a pool bar and beach service, cafe, restaurant, lounge etc.
can anyone tell me anything about breakers or give me any tips about
eating out and entertainment loosey26@aol.com
My husband, my brother and sister n law, and I are going to MB for the
first time Sept 14 - 19 and will be staying at the Palace in the two
bedroom condo...can anyone tell me about this place. And some of the
main attractions of MB. Thank you!
Waterside Inn - Not impressed. First time staying in downtown Myrtle
Beach. Usually stay north. Would not stay there again. Has 14 day
cancellation requirement to get refund on deposit and had to pay for
full reservation at check in. 7/24/98
My family will be going to MB for the first time in August '98. We
will be staying at the Coral Beach Resort. Please let me know any
info (good or bad) on this hotel. I am very worried that we will have
a bad experience after reading some of these posts. Also, any coupons
or suggestions on making the most of our trip would be appreciated.
Thanks!
My boyz and I are planning a golf adventure...We are under 25 so we
have had trouble finding a reservation at a nice place. We want to be
in the mix but are not sure what hotel to stay in. We are looking for
an oceanfront view condo or suite on the beach. We can get a suite at
the Coral Beach but are not sure if it is any good. Help!
July 27, 1998. Just got back from Myrtle beach and I want to share our
experience with Beach Dunes and the lumpy mattress on the sofa bed.
The mattress was very old and lumpy so I called the front desk to
report the problem. Within 1 hour of calling, someone stopped by to
replace the old mattress with a brand new one. That's what I call
customer service! I want to add that the staff was friendly and there
was maid service every single day of our one week stay. Now the bad
stuff, the room reeked of smoke and alcohol and the building was kind
of old and rundown, but I want to mention that because the staff was
very friendly and the lumpy mattress experience ended up being a
pleasant one, and the overall customer service was excellent, we would
not hesitate to go back. So if a friendly staff and good customer
service is important to you, go to the Beach Dunes. Check out Captain
Benjamin's Calabash Seafood restaurant if you want all you can eat
crab legs! The Family Kingdom Oceanfront Water Park is a must! If you
have small children or toddlers, the children's area at this water
park is a nice size and great for the little ones. V.Axelrod...
3D We just returned from a 10 day vacation in MB. We were there from
July 12 to July 22. We stayed at the Sea Mist for part of the time and
were extremely disappointed. That place is so spread out (22
buildings). We had to have our map with us the whole time. Don't let
the ads for this place mislead you. The water park is nothing special
and depending on which building you are in, can be a challenge to even
find. The rooms are nothing special either. It appeared to me that the
owners are trying to buy up all the surrounding small hotels and it is
just too spread out. The SandCastle on N. Ocean Blvd was a nice place
to stay. The seafood at Seafare Rest. in Murrell's Inlet was
absolutely the best we have ever had and with a coupon was very
reasonably priced. We also enjoyed Medieval Times a lot. Very fun and
entertaining. Also, I would encourage everyone to take time to visit
Huntington Beach State Park, it is a very nice park. We saw alligators
and the crabbing was excellent. The beach was the cleanest and widest
we saw. Just pay once and you can use the park until 10 p.m. There was
hardly any people on the beach. Really quiet and relaxing.
DOes Mrytle Beach have parasailing? Thank you *Chelsea
I have gone to MB with my family since a was a little baby. We love
staying at Ocean Lakes Campground. You don't HAVE to camp, because
there are places already there (trailers made into houses and even
humongous beach houses!). They have two pools, a few small lakes my
dad loves to fish in, a camptown store where you can buy souvineers
and other nessacary small things, the best ice cream in the world, an
arcade, and also, my favorite part, almost everyone rides around in
golf carts that you can rent there by the day or by the week! It is
so fun! Try Ocean Lakes because it is very family oriented and isn't
violent or nasty. I also enjoyed the Dixie Stampede and Midevil
Times. My parents like the Grand Ol' Opry and the Gatlin Brothers.
The whole family loves Barefoot Landing and we hope to try Broadway
at the Beach soon. We do, however, have a hard time finding good food
at MB, and most all of the time eat at the campground in our house.
If anyone knows of any good restaurants (preferably sea food), please
let me know. Maggie Giles July 26th, 1998
We are looking for a 1br, moderate to upscale condo with ocean front
or ocean view, that will except a small, well behaved dog for a 5-7
day stay in the North Myrtle Beach vacinity. The timeframe we are
interested in is early to mid September. We have previously stayed at
Lands End in NMB and thoroughly enjoyed our accomodations, but they do
not have any openings for our desired time. If anyone has any
suggetions that meet our needs, please email us at
david-julie@mindspring.com
We are planning our class reunion and would like to use MB as a
possible site. We are looking for impressive lodging at a reasonable
price. We would also welcome any ideas for entertainment. Thanks!!!!

3DWarning!!! We just returned from our trip to myrtle beach. We
checked in at the Palace Resort on July 19,1998 and left on the 22nd
of July. We were told our room was ready when we checked in at 1:30pm,
but when we got to our room the bed linens had lots of hair and
make-up on them and the carpet had not been vaccumed. We called room
service and alerted them of our unclean room, but they argued and said
it was clean. 2 hours later they finally came up and changed the
linens. I had to vaccum our room the next day myself. Our toliet also
overflowed an hour after checking in it took 2 1/2 hours and one trip
to the desk and 2 calls to get it cleaned up. The garbage disposal
also was broke. I found that out after dumping cereal down it and
flipping the switch. The maid told us it did'nt work after I did that,
so we had to put with the smell of food that was dumped in the
disposal, since the maintance crews were to busy. We also had vists
from 1 to 2 inch roaches. ! After speaking with other guest=20 there
we were'nt the only ones with problems. Others had no hot water, no
air, smelly rooms and so on. The wait at the elevators averaged 10 to
15 min. The outdoor spas had cold water in them and alot of the jets
were'nt working on them also. The pools were very cloudy. I could'nt
wait until it was time to check out. These people that are empolyed
there all need to be fired and replaced with people that can properly
run a resort. On by previous trip to the beach in June of 98 we stayed
at the Crown Reef Resort it was great, they had 20 pools and very
cheap breakfast and lunch menus in one the 3 resturants they have.
They were booked when we came down on this trip, I really missed the
Crown Reef while we were staying at the Palace. Other than our stay
everything else was great. If you want a good place to eat we sugguest
Bummz Beach Cafe at 2002 N. Ocean blvd, they have great philly's and
grilled chix sandwichs. You can dine in or outside on the patio/lawn
which is ocean front. They have bands that=20 play outside in the
evenings. Sorry this is so long but I thought other people ought to
know about the Palace before making reservations. Try the Crown Reef
Resort you want be sorry it's great and they appreciate their patrons.

Looking for a small efficiency motel room. Must be within 15 minute
drive from MB ST.PARK Pier... Mid Sept or later. Just me and my wife.
Nothing fancy, just want to do a little Pier fishing.... length of
stay??? depends on cost$$$. Can someone make a suggestion?
We recently returned from Myrtle Bch in July. Had a lovely time. I've
been going to Myrtle Bch for probably 20 years or more, however, it
was my husbands first time. He really liked it and we're looking for
other places to stay as we would like to bring our poodle with us. I
have contacted several hotels and they don't allow pets. Does anyone
out there know of any hotel or beach cottage that would like to have
our poodle stay? By the way, we stayed at Forest Dunes. While the
room was large and had a perfect view of the ocean and had a full
kitchen, two baths. It could have been cleaner. Our white socks were
filthy on the bottoms after a couple of trips down the hallway, the
kitchen dishes and silverware were dirty. Apparently, had been put
away that way. I always wash (again) what I intend to use anyway, but
upon doing that the dishes had apparently been just washed off and
put away, they were greasy and dirty and a fork had what appeared to
be egg yoke dried on it. GROSS! Lazy people, the room had a
dishwasher. I wouldn't recommend these accomodations. Please let me
know about puppy rooms. Thanks

Grandma & Grandpa going to the beach with children and
grandchildren. Were planning our trip for Aug 5-9th. Found documents
informative, so many places to choose from but not sure which one to
select. Does anyone have suggestions. It's our treat..
We have just returned from Myrtle Beach(7/16/98).It is a great place
to vacation. Our stay at the Captain's Quarters was okay, but here are
a few of our likes and dislikes. Also keep in mind that we are very
picky!! Our dislikes were no ice machines on every floor (only on 1st
and 2nd),there were no bathrooms near the pool, it was too close to
the Pavilion Amusement Park, the "H" style suite which was
an angle view was okay. The view was nice (6th floor), but the
bedroom was way too small. The single A/C unit cooled the rest of the
room fine, but the bedroom was a little warm. A fan was provided
which was well needed. The brochure showed 2 slides by the pool, but
had been removed way before our visit. The things we Liked about it
was there was covered parking on the same side of street except when
full around midnight. The employees were helpful and courteous. The
pools were nice sized with no overcrowding and plenty of chaise
lounges. All in all we enjoyed our visit and plan to go back to
Myrtle Beach. We are looking for a better place, so keep the comments
coming.
We recently stayed at Forest Dunes. Our view was lovely, the room was
nice and roomy with all the accomodations. However, we found it could
have been cleaner. We had white socks on and the bottoms of our socks
were black. Although I always wash to dishes before we use them. The
condo had a dishwasher. I got used a glass to simply take some
medicine. I noticed a glass had lip stick on it! Gross! So when I
proceeded to put all the dishes we intended to use during our visit in
the dishwasher, the dishes had food on the bottoms and were slick and
greasy like they had been rinsed and just put away. I think they
depend on the guests to clean the room, since they leave a dust pan
and broom with a mop and bucket. However, when your on vacation,
cleaning is not on the top of my list. So in that regard we were
disappointed and would not stay there again. We are, however, looking
for a condo or hotel with kitchen on N. Ocean Blvd. in at Surfside
Beach that will allow our poodle to stay. If anyone out there knows
of any place, please let me know. Thanks!
I am looking for a place in Myrtle Beach on No. Ocean Blvd., or
Surfside Beach that allows pets. We'd like a condo or hotel that's
clean, not too awfully expensive is is on the beach with a kitchen.
Your help will be appreciated.
Me and my husband are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach as a
"second honeymoon." Can anyone give me some pointers on the
nicest place to stay? I'm leaning toward Coral Reef,
Swampfox,LandMark, Coral Beach and Martinique. I'd like to go to the
cheapest and best value. Any information on romantic restaurants and
etc. would be appreciated also.
Has anyone stayed at the Windsurfer Resort/Hotel? We've stayed at many
places in MB only to find that they are run down or in need of repair.
We liked the location and the appearence of the place when we drove
by. Please email me if you have any knowledge of this property and I
can also tell you where not to stay. Thanks!
We're visiting in a couple of weeks and staying at Long Bay Resort. I
didn't see any comments on this place. Anyone have any experiences
here? We're looking forward to our first visit. Submitted 7/14/98
My husband and I went to MB the last 2 years and we stayed at the
SAIL INN 2507 N Ocean Blvd. We stayed in the west bldg on the 3rd
floor it has 3 rooms on the 3rd floor with a nice size deck with
chairs and lounge chairs. We sat out there every night with our Rum
and Coke it was VERY VERY relaxing..It was a reasonable price......If
you get a chance you might want to stay there on the 3rd floor in the
west bldg....HOPE Y'ALL ENJOYED YOURSELVES AS MUCH AS WE DID......
For a different kind of experince you must also go to Barefoot
Landings and eat at Dick's Last Resort....the food was REALLY
good....
3D Going to MB during the second week in Aug. Any suggestions for
courses for high handicappers and beginners. Going down with my wife
(beginner) and two novice teen age sons. Any sugghestions will be
taken seriously. ALSO... where to stay by the beach???
3DJust returned from MB (7/1-7/5/98)....Had a great time...stayed at
the Beach Cove Resort..awesome place to stay! Broadway on the Beach
has everything for the traveler to do/see. Nascar Cafe...great
food...also Crabhouse was nice too.=20
7/13/98 We just returned from a week's vacation in Myrtle Beach and
it was the best vacation that we've had in years. We stayed at The
Caribbean Resort at 3000 N. Ocean Blvd. It was close enough for the
teenagers to walk to the Pavilion but yet far enough away from the
noise for those of us that enjoy a little solitude (if that is
possible during the week of the 4th of July). The hotel and grounds
were immaculate and the staff were very helpful. The best place that
we found for meals was at Broadway on the Beach, Planet Hollywood.
Very generous portions and reasonable prices. We usually shared our
meals because the portions were too much for one person. Broadway on
the Beach has exceptional shopping and dining. Can't wait to return
next year.
PLANNING A FAMILY VACATION (2 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN UNDER 10) FOR THE
END OF AUGUST. LOOKING TO STAY AT THE OCEAN DRIVE BEACH AND GOLF
RESORT. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INPUT FROM THOSE WHO MAY HAVE RECENTLY
STAYED AT THIS LOCATION. E-MAIL RESPONSES TO AMCO6570@AOL.COM. THANKS!
We are planning a vacation in the middle of July. If anyone has any
comments on A place at Myrtle Beach Rental,Inc. or Ocean Shores Condo
please e-mail me. Time is running out, today's date is July 12,1998
We have been looking into wedding chapels in the Myrtle Beach area. I
have received bad feedback on Wedding Chapels by the Sea, and would
appreciate any input on the other Wedding Chapels in the area. Please
e-mail me with any input. Thank you.
I have gone to Myrtle Beach every year for a week in October. I have
stayed at a few different places. My favorite one was Lakewood Family
Campground. They had nice indoor and outdoor pools, an arcade and many
other neat things. July 12, 1998
3D We are interested in any condos or hotels that have suites that are
oceanfront in North Myrtle Beach, Cherry Hill, Little River, etc. that
will let you have a small pet (15 lbs.) that is trained. Please let us
know if you know of such a place. We would like to go the end of July.
Thanks.
Have any of you beach lovers ever stayed at the Atlantic Paradise? My
husband and I will be going August 16th, 1998 and would love to hear
any comments on this hotel. Thanks in advance! Also any afternoon boat
trips that were reasonable and fun.
LOOKING FOR YOUR COMMENTS ON THE MYRTLE BEACH RESORT. 2 ADULTS, 4
KIDS. GOING FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST 1998. RESERVATIONS IN BLDG
"B". WHAT'S GOOD/BAD ABOUT THIS PLACE? DO'S AND DON'TS? SAFE
TO LET THE KIDS WALK AROUND ON THEIR OWN? IS IT A REAL VACATION, OR A
HASSLE-AWAY-FROM-HOME LIKE SO MANY OTHER PLACES? THANKS MUCH FOR YOUR
INPUT.
we are planning a trip in sept. we love m.b.. i have been every year
except one since i was born-25 years ago! my favorites are broadway at
the beach to shop and the crab house to eat.my family loves to eat at
lee's inlet kitchen in murrell's inlet. last year my parent's took my
brother, myself, and two of our friends we stayed at litchfield resort
(close to pawley's island) and we had a blast.it is a super nice place
and the condo gave us all plenty of prrivacy when we divided up the
girls and boys. i plan to have my honeymoon in m.b. next summer -just
like my parents did 29 years ago!
I will be living in Wilmington, NC after August 1st, and will be
having company coming to visit. Does anyone who reads this have any
information on the Myrtle Beach Aquarium (or know if there is such a
thing)?? If so, please e-mail me at Pine134@AOL.com and let me know
where I might get this info. Thanks in advance........David
We have been coming down to MB 2-3 times a year for the last 3 years
and can't seem to find a place that we want to stay at for more than 1
time. The next place we're going to try is the Windsurfer Hotel/Resort
and was wondering if anyone has stayed there and how they liked it? We
like the location (near 2nd ave pier) and the list of amenities they
have to offer. We will appreciate all comments.
We are planning a trip to MB in June 99. Looking for a clean place,
reasonably priced, would prefer 2bedrooms. Our kids will be 20,18,13.
Was looking at The Meridian and The Palace. Let me know current
experiences with these or any better ideas.
Lodging=Hurl Rock url= feedback=Hurl Rock: I would not stay at the
Hurl Rock. I had reservations and when we arrived the rooms were
filthy. The refrigerator had flies flying out of it when you openned
the door. The furniture looked like it was ready to fall on the
floor. When I advised the managment that I was disappointed they were
very rude and uncaring. I lost $150.00 deposit because they lied to
me. I was told by the reservation office that this was a very nice
establishment. Would not advise anyone to stay there. Kathy Ownby

can anyone tell me a couple of the nicest hotels in the north myrtle
beach area near the old ocean forest hotel? i don't want a regular
hotel, but something very nice.
My wife and I visited Myrtle Beach for the first time last week (June
27 - July 4 '98) and had a GREAT time! It was very hot and humid, but
our hotel had 5 pools and the ocean was a nice 85 degrees. We stayed
at the Holiday Inn Resort on Ocean Blvd (the "Heart" of
Myrtle Beach) -- a nice place but parking was a nightmare and there
was no elevator in the building we were in. We were next to the main
building, which is 3 floors. It was difficult carrying luggage up to
the second especially with the temp 100 degrees. Broadway at the
Beach was great. We visited the Ripley Aquarium (similar to the
Baltimore aquarium), Planet Hollywood, and the IMAX theatre. If you
want a really good steak dinner goto Texans which is on Ocean Blvd
(right hand side coming from M.B.) before restaurant row. Steak was
perfect (generous portion) and the salad bar is great (the chili is
the best I have ever had). We really enjoyed the Dixie Stampede which
is a dinner and a show owned by Dolly Parton. They give you a whole
chicken, soup, potatoes, pork loin, apple turnover for dessert, and
unlimited beverages (iced-tea, Pepsi, coffee, tea). They do not serve
alcholic beverages, but the frozen drinks are great. Also be sure to
visit Myrtle Waves a HUGE water park. Lots of fun and a great way to
keep cool. We will definitly visit Myrtle Beach again!
please send myrtle beach info to: Dan Bornemann 899 St. Andrews Way
Frankfort , Illinois 60423
I am planning to go to Myrtle Beach the end of July and I would like
to hear any comments regarding any condos or nice hotel eff. that are
priced well and are located near The Broadway in the middle of Myrtle
Beach. Please E-Mail me!
I have been checking for information on dinner cruise's. The only one
that I have found with cost information is the Great American
Riverboat Company. Do you know anything about this cruise company?
Could you e-mail me information on any other company's that provide an
evening dinner cruise. We plan on arriving around the 20th of July
with some friends, and would like to do something different like this.
Any information you could provide beforehand would be appreciated
Thanks, Tim Hutchinson
I am visiting Myrtle Beach in August and am planning on staying at the
Ocean Forest Plaza. Has anyone stayed there or heard about
it....please e-mail me.
Driving down to the beach in July from Brampton (Outside of Toronto).
Past years we take I90 to I79 through Pittsburgh then continue on
until route 19 at Sutton then hook up to I77. We get off at Mount Airy
and go through Greensborough then head south. This year I'm going in
my 10 yr. old Mustang and would like to know of a route which isn't so
hilly. Thanks for any comments
Interested in any info on wedding chapels in Myrtle Beach area. Please
e-mail me with any info. Thanks for the help.
I am planning a long weekend the second week of September and would
like sugguestions as to where to stay. Let me tell you what I am
looking for......oceanfront, indoor pool, in the heart of Myrtle
Beach with a bar lounge within the establishment. I have stayed at
the Tropicana before and it is very nice but it has been a couple
years and i can't remember if it was in the heart of the beach or
not. Also, if their is a pier close by I would like to stay near
that.
7-1-98: We just returned from Myrtle Beach and stayed for the first
time at The Palace. I was very disappointed. Not only did I hear so
many vistors complaining about the rooms not being clean, but I saw
first hand. When I opened the door to the room, potato chips were on
the couch and on the floor. Hair was on the door and floor of the
bathroom. I didn't complain because I had heard others complain to
the managers and their comment was "so"! I had my cleaning
supplies with me and I cleaned up the mess. When a person has to pay
a high price a night they expect a clean, sanitized room and the
personnel of the resort should be helpful and courteous. After all,
if it were not for the visitors, they would not even have a job. I
can say the maid was helpful in providing extra towels and washcloths
when I requested them. I am here to tell you that if I could not find
reservations but at The Palace I just would not visit Myrtle Beach
again. The best place ever is Tropical Winds but when we needed
reservations they were no vacancies. Next year, I will plan my
vacation so I will be able to stay at Tropical Winds. Why in this
world "The Strand Magazine" has The Palace listed as a top
resort and not Tropical Winds is beyond me?! Places to eat: when the
Alabama Grill is rebuilt that will be the place to eat. Hollywood
Planet is ridicous, cheeseburgers for $8.95! What a rip off! and for
what, just to see big screen movie reviews and an hour and one-half
wait! The Alabama Threater Gift Shop is also great with many Alabama
souvenirs and other neat things! Myrtle Beach Treasures & Gifts
on West Blvd. is a neat little gift shop with reasonable prices. It
has some cute gift items not the junky stuff. The clerks in both of
these shops were very nice. One last note, if we want to make a
statement to resorts like "The Palace" we have to let them
know we mean business by not giving them any business. I will also
write the Chamber of Commerce and The Strand Magazine. I think we
need to take a stand and just maybe these people will clean up their
act!
Listen, Ihave live in Mrytle Beach, SC All of my life. I am a white,
21 yr old male and I know everything there is basically to know about
this beautiful resort vacation spot. any questons feel free to ask...
I will send you as much information as possible because I know how it
is to visit a strange place. hope you enjoy my hometown... Ta, Ta !!!
HI. My husband and I are going to MB for the second time in September
98. Does anyone have information on Tropical Winds Resort? We stayed
at The Bluewater Resort last year, and will never stay there again.
Run-down, not very nice at all. Thanks!
I am interested in find accommodations that allow 2 dogs in the Myrtle
Beach area. We are planning to visit in September 1998. (1998/06/28)
I've stayed at the Yachtsman Resort for the last 2 years on vacation
and had a great time. Now I'm in the market to buy a condo that I can
use for a rental. Anybody got one for sale?? Please e-mail me. Thanks
Planning to stay with family (aug 98) at the Sands Ocean Club. Appears
to be nice, family oriented place. Would love to hear any comments. We
have reservations in an Ocean View efficiency.
BEWARE!!! we have visited myrtle beach the last 2 years, and '97 was a
nightmare thanks to a hotel called OCEAN PLAZA, we had 8 people
staying together and on the phone they said this would be fine... well
when we got there we had to pay for another room because it was
against fire code, but there were no rooms, so my mom and grandma were
put into the maids courters, where there were no windows, and a phone
that rang continuous, it was the front desk line. The elevator broke,
and the pool srung a leak. The rooms were dirty, and we were not very
happy. In '96 we stayed at Captains Quarters and we thought that we
would like a smaller hotel, because we were on the 17TH floor and
waiting on the elevator always, but the captains quarters was much
better... This year we are trying the sea mist.. i hope we have better
luck, well everyone have a nice vacation this year and stay away from
the purple ocean plaza, located next to the coral beach...
We stayed at the Caravelle Resort during our vacation. It was a great
place, lots of room. The only complaint was there needs to be more
elevators. 06/98
3D My family and I have been to Mrytle Beach twice and we love it! We
plan to go in July of this year and we're looking for some really neat
things to do. Has anyone heard of or been to the Savoy Theatre? I
usually stay at the Sheraton. Any other good ideas? Something
reasonably priced, clean and comfortable. Oceanview would be nice
also. My daughter loves the Pavillion, my husband likes the go-carts,
I like making them happy. I'm looking for some good ideas. thanks.
Does enyone know anything about the Crown Reef II. I need to know
right away! We are coming there in July.
Lodging=Kingston Plantation url= feedback=Kingston Plantation: It was
not expensive and the accomadations were WONDERFUL! I live in the
Washington, D.C. area and the same accommodations in my area would
have been triple the cost. It is a fairly new establishment with a
terrific health club that included a sauna, tennis courts, aerobic
classes, nautilus equipment, racquetball, etc. The grounds are
gorgeous and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's also quiet. I
would recommend either the villas or the townhomes. Neither are
oceanfront, but they are both in walking distance of the ocean and
would afford its' occupants some privacy. They also come with all the
conveniences of home with a washer/dryer, full kitchen, etc. They are
also wonderful if you are traveling with a group of people like I was
because they have 2-3 bedrooms. They are also decorated very, very
nice. It is a 4-5 star quality establishment.
Lodging=The Yachtsman url= feedback=The Yachtsman: My husband and I
went to Myrtle Beach on our honeymoon in August of 97 and we stayed
at the Yachtsman. I would definetly recommend it to anyone. We
stayed on the 20th floor and had an ocean front room. We got this
great room and didn't even have reservations. The room was big and
very clean. They had everything there that you could possibly need
but if you asked for something else they were very quick and polite
about getting it to you. We loved it and are going back!
3Dhello. My family is planning a trip to Myrtle Beach, but we don'= t
really know the area. I was wondering what places are good to visit
for a family. We are planning to go in late July 1998. write me if you
have any suggestions. Thank you.
I too have booked |
