| My husband and I just
came back from one glorious week at the Beach Cove Resort in
North Myrtle Beach. We absolutely loved it! (Editor clipped
non restaurant comments) T-Bonez was a good restarant,
and so was the House of Blues, our favorite (albeit pricey) by
far was Greg Normans - the BEST place for a quiet dinner without
any hustle-bustle of the dreaded buffet restarant... very
classy, very relaxed, refined dining experience and the food
Top-Notch. Tip - I'm a big salad person, and even at Greg
Norman's, the salads aren't any more expensive than at any other
place we went to... $7 how's that! Of course, the hubby went for
the Surf and Turf (Filet Mignon and lobster tail) for $34, but
soooo well worth it! Another nice thing - at Beach Cove, you can
send up to three postcards (which they provide for you at the
front desk) and they will send them and pay the postage for you!
That was a very nice convenience. Very few complaints (Editor

sally We have had many very good meals at the fabulous CAROLINA
ROADHOUSE in Myrtle Beach near 48th Ave. north.on Kings Highway.
The place is huge....with reasonably priced food and it is
delicious ! Wonderful service as well. We go here at least once
every time we are in town for our vacation. This place is well
known....and popular. Does anyone know of a Cigar Bar/ Cigar friendly restaurant in
the Myrtle Beach area? Thanks please emailL: My husband and I (we are in our mid 50's) and out
grandaughters ages 15 and 9 make an annual visit to Myrtle Beach
and we stay at LAKEWOOD CAMPGROUND and enjoy it VERY much. It is
a great family oriented park and they have many planned
activities for all to enjoy. There are golf carts to rent but
that must be planned in advance and paid for in advance. We find
that shopping at BROADWAY AT THE BEACH is fun and our favorite
eatery is the SEAFARE in Murrells Inlet. A little on the pricey
side but you have an 80 item buffet all you care to eat. And
about any dessert you can think of. We spend most of our time in
the campground enjoying the activities and the beach. We also
thought that the AQUARIUM was great too. We will venture out
somemore this upcoming trip as the girls have not been to the
PAVILLION area yet and that is on our list of to do's this year.
Also found the KLIG"S KITE stores a nice place to spend some
time. Just wanted to share some of out experiences with other
campers and folks going to Myrtle Beach for their first time. We
are always at the beach the week prior to the 4th and over the
4th holiday. It is crowded but still alot of fun. Sharon
Johnston My husband and I along with my parents vacationed in Myrtle
Beach last summer. We lodged at the new Sandcastle Hotel.
Service there was rotten. I don't think they knew what the word
"acommodate" even meant. We were never able to get enough towels
even when we ran down housekeepers and asked for more. The staff
was very unfriendly as is typical with most all business people
in MB anyway. Hospitality is not MB's strong point and folks at
Sandcastle aren't even acquainted with the word. Besides not
being supplied towels, the elevators were pitiful. Seemed as
though half our time was spent on an elevator. Finding parking
in garage was a hassle every night, and getting a chair at pool-
side was impossible unless one camped in it all night. Overall
the Sandcastle failed to accommodate total number of customers
it lodged. It seemed as though once we were registered and had
yielded our credit card we were on our own and "tough luck
Charlie as far as Sandcastle was concerned. Oh yeah, I forgot to
tell about the fire alarm we experienced between 3-4 p.m. while
taking shower . Everyone in building was sent out to street for
30 minutes to watch fire trucks arrive, listen to sirens, and
witness utter chaos which resulted in a so-called manager
announcing "false alarm" with no explanation for disgruntled
customers. We did however, experience wonderful dining at places
such as The Chesapeake and Gulleyfield's. They offer first-rate
dining and fabulous food and atmosphere. Shopping was fantastic.
I loved Barefoot Landing and outled centers. Linda Myself and two friends decided to go to North Myrtle Beach
this past weekend (June 10-12, 1999). We checked a few sites on
the internet and found the Blue Water Inn. They had reasonable
rates (not cheap, but not expensive), so we made reservations.
When we got there, BWI was a mom and pop run hotel, not the
cleanest, and it had a bit of an odor, but it wasn't the worst
(especially after we used our own lysol to dimish it). During
the first night of our we asked cabdriver Todd (kudos to Ocean
Cab) for a good place to eat, not knowing the area. Todd
recommeded Outriggers, forgive him for trying to help. On
Friday, after a long day at the beach, we were expecting to come
back to a clean room that had been touched by housekeeping,
silly us! It was not. They were nice enough to give us some
clean towels, so we cleaned up and went to Joes bar and grill
(This is now our favorite place at Myrtle beach...we recommed it
to all). Saturday, again, no housekeeping. However, we did
receive new towels to wash up and go out. When we got back, we
decided to put the one extra blanket on the bed to cover up the
dampness from which we cannot identify or explain. Sunday, we
left and got back to PA around midnight. Tired, I still decided
to unpack because I was checking for cockroaches, being that we
saw one in our room that morning. Unfortunately, all my jewerly
was missing. Can't explain that one either, being that it never
the room, and housekeeping was never there, Right???? I USUALLY GO TO THE BEACH EVERY SUMMER WELL LAST SUMMER THAT
IS (98). WE STAYED AT CROWN REEF. IT WAS AWESOME! I LOVED THE
OCEAN FRONT VEIW. THE 20 POOLS AND THE LAZY RIVER WERE GREAT! WE
ATE AT PLANET HOLLYWOOD THATS THE PLACE TO GO ONLY IF YOU'RE
WILLING TO WAIT IN LINE. THE PLACE INSIDE IS AWESOME. THE FOOD
IS GREAT THE STAFF REALLY MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME!
BROADWAY AT THE BEACH WAS A GREAT PLACE TO GO TO SHOP BUT ALSO
TO HAVE A GREAT TIME. RIPLEYS AQURIAM IS GREAT. I RECENTLY WENT
BACK TO MYRTLE BEACH I STAYED AT OUR CONDO. BUT THIS TIME WE ATE
A DICKS LAST RESORT! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. I WOULD RECEMEND THAT
YOU GO THERE AT LEAST ONCE! ITS A PLACE WHERE THE WAITERS CAN BE
A BITCH AND GET PAID FOR IT. DON'T LET THAT TURN YOU AWAY
THOUGHT YOU CAN THROW IT RIGHT BACK AT THEM ONLY TWICE AS HARD!
I'LL GIVE IT AN A+ MAY 3 1999 I forgot to mention the Conch Cafe on the beach in Surfside
Beach (south of MB) from where I stay, it is usually a short
walk, and you can go there for lunch in your barefeet and
baithing suit and eat on their deck overlooking the beach and
the ocean. It has to be one of my favorites! how could I forget.
The food is reasonably priced, I recommend the Shrimp Po'Boy...
really good. Watch out though, mixed drinks are incredible, and
you'll pay upwards of 6 bucks per glass -- but they are well
worth it!! DON"T MISS IT! I've been visiting the Myrtle Beach area since I was 12 years
old (I'm not 27 and married). I continue to visit every year for
so many reasons. My husband now loves the MB area, but since I
was about 16, we started staying a bit south of Myrtle Beach, in
either Surfside Beach or Garden City Beach area. These 2 places
are only minutes from MB ( about 15 for Surfside, 20-25 for
Garden City) and they are SOOO much less crowded and much
cleaner in my opinion ( not that MB is dirty!) The beaches are
less populated, and on the whole, rentals are cheaper. We have
always either rented a house or condo, thru either Surfside or
Garden City Realty. I'd recommend anyone looking for a place to
visit them online -- the condos have washer/dryers and pools
(usually) along with a kitchen which helps if you don't want to
eat out. I like to avoid hotels as they are usually crowded.
Anyways, as far as eating out -- I'd like to recommend my
favorites -- some of these I've eaten at almost every year since
I was 12... First -- GO TO MURRELL'S INLET if you like seafood
(south of garden city, about half hour 40 minutes from MB) It is
basically a fisherman's town, with tons of good restaruants. It
gets crowded at nite, so get there early or make reservations.
My fav. places in murrells inlet are: FLO'S(cajun and spicy
seafood, gator and such), BOVINES (all around good stuff)
ANCHOVIES (seafood, burgers, and more) and DRUNKEN JACKS(only
average food, a bit pricey, a long wait, but GREAT atmosphere
and nite life, along with a good view of the sunset!!!--esp.
great on the 4rth of July, our usual haunt is here) okay, out of
murrels inlet, on 17 south of garden city is KYOTO JAPANESE
Steak house. IT IS by far the best japanese food I have had in
MB. Great prices, but MAKE a reservation at least a few days to
a week in advance. ASK for the pits in the middle (3 sunken
tables) They cook teppenyaki (sp?) really really really great!
Also, if you like Ribs, try DAMON's in barefoot landing -- not
as good as they have been in the past as far as service, but the
food is still good. As far as buffets, if you like salty
southern cooking, there is a place on 17 south past garden city
(about 30 min. from MB) called THE BACK PORCH. You have to look
for the big billboard. I'm not sure if they are still open, I
heard they may be closing last year -- but if they are there,
they sure are GOOD! Visit Huntington Beach State Park for a nice
quiet natural beach day, or Brookgreen Gardens if you like
nature/flowers/sculpture. I have much more info if any one

for years until I got married July 1996. We stayed at the
Carolian. This place was nice. Only couples and families, no
screaming teens, security was great. We did stay in North Myrtle
1998 at the Blockade Runner, was affordable and clean. Would
return to either hotel again. Places to eat Crabman's with the
red roof and Seafare in Murrel's Inlet. Well worth the money it
is our anniversary dinner each year. To add the Court Capri is a

MY EXPERIENCE WITH MYRTLE BEACH (A LITTLE LONG BUT INFORMATIVE)
I wanted to fill this out because I read these travelogues while
planning my stay which I feel helped me........ My girlfriend
and I decided to spend a few days in Myrtle Beach the Sunday
before. We chose it becuase the forecast (www.weather.com) was
to be nice that weekend. Since neither of had stayed there I
spent several hours on Monday on the internet at
http://www.segetaway.com/MyrtleBeach/lodginglist.html
looking for nice places to stay. We wanted to be on the beach
and becuase it was a last minute vacation which needed to
planned inside a day, we decided to stay at a resort hotel since
I felt would be easiest. After reading several horror stories of
some old worn out resorts on the Grand Strand, I reasoned the
newer a place was (no matter how it was run) would be good since
I was more worried of staying in a run down place than bad
service. I started calling all the resorts I found on the
logging web page and ended up accidentally talking to a Myrtle
Beach travel agent who lives in the area. She also recommended
staying at a newer place since they would probably be the most
decent as far as cleanliness. In particular, the resorts she
recommended to me were the Yachtsman (probably the nicest on the
Grand Strand), The Coral Beach, The SandCaslte South, and the
The Crwon Reef. Of these, the place that had a vacancy and
looked most appealing to me was the SandCastle South (there is a
SandCastle resort that is located north of central Myrtle Beach
whereas the SandCastle South is two miles south.)It also
happended to be the newest resort hotel on the Grand Strand. The
travel agent I talked to told me it had been open for only a
year and I called the SandCastle twice to talk to two different
receptionists who also both told me it had been open for only a
year. In addition, they both told me all construction was
complete (so there wouldn't be any half complete swimming pools
or construction mess). THE SANDCASTLE SOUTH IS A VERY NICE
RESORT HOTEL. It has an outdoor swimming pool, lazy river(heated),
and two hot tubs(whirlpools) that are hot!! There is also a
heated indoor pool and kids wadding pool. The place was
immaculate. We were there near the last part of the yearly
spring break legacy so the city and the beach were full. The
SandCastle Resort had no vacancy but there was still plenty of
room around the pool and on the beach. OUR ROOM WAS VERY NICE.
IT WAS CLEAN AND WELL FURNISHED; EVERYTHING WAS BRAND NEW. TWO
NICE TV'S, 3 QUEEN SIZE BEDS, A FULL SIZE REFRIGERATOR, 4 BURNER
STOVE, POTS AND PANS, KITCHEN UTENSILS, AND A VERY LARGE
MICROWAVE, AND EACH ROOM HAS TWO OF IT'S OWN A/C AND HEATERS
WHICH YOU CONTROL (and no I don't have an investment in the
resort). Generally speaking, the resorts closest to central
Myrtle Beach (which I call the Pavillion Amusement Part area)
are older or much more run down because they have been there for
so long. They are probably cheaper would explain why there was
such a large concentration of teeny boppers in that area. There
are tons of places to stay in Myrtle Beach. There are also some
very nice national chain hotels within a mile from the beach
(like the Hampton Inn on R17). If I were to go back to Myrtle
Beach and wanted to stay on the beach I would look into renting
a condo (there are just tons of them in between the resort
hotels and they looked pretty nice). If I were to stay in a
resort hotel, I would try The Crown Reef. It is huge and very
elegant. One day while walking on the beach behind it, my
girlfriend and I walked up into their patio pool area and it was
nice! It was just as clean as the SandCastle South, just bigger
and more elegant. A big plus about staying at the SandCastle
South or the Crown Reef is that they are about 2.5 miles south
of central Myrtle Beach where all the older, cheaper places are
which is where the concentration of youths hang out. I don't
know if it was becuase we were there during the spring break
season but at 3 o'clock in the morning, there had to be a
thousand or more teenagers walking and driving up and down ocean
blvd. everynight. It was a big crusing scene where a mile of
"decked out" cars would slowly drive up and back the Pavillion
Area playing loud rap music. I would have hated staying in a
resort in that area. The Yachtsman looked like a really nice
place, but it is in the heart of that mess. We didn't find the
attractions in the Pavillion Area worth stopping for. We did
vist Ripley's Believe It or Not which we didn't care much for
either. Atleast not what we payed to get in. THE BEST ATTRACTION
AT MYRTLE BEACH IS BROADWAY AT THE BEACH. Lots of good
restaurants, little unique shops, as well as Ripley's Aquarium
and the IMEX Theatre. We thought Ripley's Aquarium was the
neatest attraction in the city (it has a huge tank that you walk
under which contains 6 or more adult sharks!!!) and an area that
allows you to touch sting rays, skates, and baby sharks. IF YOU
GO TO MYRTLE BEACH, GO TO RIPPLEY'S AQUARIUM. The IMEX theatre
was also worth visiting but being from Cincinnati where we have
an IMAX theatre (similar to the IMEX but bigger and better) it
wasn't as impressive as the aquarium. BAREFOOT LANDING is also
worth visiting (no you don't walk around barefoot on sand or
anything - it's just a name) and is similar to BroadWay at the
Beach but not nearly as large or elegant. YOU COULD EASILY SPEND
AN ENTIRE DAY AT BROADWAY AT THE BEACH!!!! NEGATIVES ABOUT
MYRTLE BEACH - There were too many teenagers that played loud
music and drove like complete idiots. The people there we felt
were generally arrogant and traffic was often at a standstill
(except farther south where we were staying). There didn't seem
like there were as many police as there should have been. There
is a restaurant on every corner and it was nearly impossible to
go to one during the dinner hours without having to wait half
and hour. Make reservations if you can. Also, check around and
see if people recommend a place that has good food. We didn't
have a good dinner any night we were there. I'm sure there is
good food in Myrtle Beach, you just need to find it. The beach
was very shelly, meaning you needed some sort of sandle to get
out past the first fifteen feet without saying several four
letter words. PARKING GARAGES AT THE RESORTS ARE TIGHT!!! The
garage at the SandCastle South had more than enough spaces, they
were just small as well as the garage itself. The other resort's
garage's looked cramped as well. Try not to plan on bringing
your biggest vehicle if you are parking in a resort hotel!!!
POSITIVES ABOUT MYRTLE BEACH - It is a close Florida!!! Prices
for everything was very reasonable. Despite all the shells on
the beach, it is still a nice beach. Good surf if you like the
waves. The sun was very warm and the weather was beautifull. An
absolute ton of plays to swing golf clubs and lots of places to
play miniature golf. There is alot to do in Myrtle Beach and
would be a great spot for a family vacation. I would enjoy going
back to Myrtle Beach Again!!!!!!!! 4/14/99. Spent 4 great days at the beach. The weather was
excellent 75 plus each day. Played Legends Heathland which was
in great shape and a good first course as it's wideopen. The
Wizard was great, the greens are large and in great condition.
The finishing holes are beautiful and very challenging. DO NOT
play Belle Terre!!! It is not worth the money. The course was
not in good shape and was not any fun to play. We finished up at
Heather Glen and loved it. The course is beautiful and well
maintained. If you want good Mexican food (try the poppers) go
to the Burro Loco on bypass 17. Ref.Bar Harbour Resort info.req.-We're planning our first
family vacation to MB - May 6-13/99 /2 adults, 2 seniors, 2
children, 10, 6 and would appreciate referrals on a 4 or 5 star
resort. We are considering the Bar Harbour Resort-N.Ocean Blvd -

satisfied with each trip.. they need more chaises by the pool.
try breezes beach club next door. eat at tripps at broadway at
the beach ask for john a tall blonde man he's the best and also
my son.. love ocean creek it's very relaxing stayed at the beach
cove in jan 98 very good friends of ours stayed at the mrytle
beach travel park they loved it.. try rossi's great italian
food....try T-Bonz has anyone stayed at the la Quinta they allow
pets does anyone know of a good hotel that allows small dogs?
We will be heading for MyrtleBeach in one week for our 6th
year. We are a family of 6 and we always take a friend along. We
have always rented from Condo-World in North Myrtle Beach. They
have the best rates of any of the rental places and their condos
are fantastic. Greatpeople work there and they treat you super.
We enjoy Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach and the
uotlet stores on 501.So much to do and see in MB. I enjoy
golfing with friends that also go each year, but we are finding
that their rates are becoming outrageous. It costs as much for 6
rounds as it does for a membership for the year up here. Great
places to eat are T-Bonz, Outback Steak House, and the
Outrigger. My wife got gift certificates for T-Bonz and Outback
for me as Christmas gifts! Cant wait to use them. We
willeventually retire to the MB area. As soon as we arrive we
will be making our reservations for 2000. Jack Armstrong I have been to Myrtle Beach for seven of the last eight
years. We always stay at Condotels at one Ocean Place. These are
luxurious condos with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a full
kitchen, a dining room, a living room, a full balcony, a washer
and dryer, a dish washer, and daily maid service.....all in your
own condo. It is very relaxing. Like moving your home to the
Beach. I recommend to anyone who would like to be able to relax
kind of peacefully during the day and be only minutes from
thousands of things to do at night, and, just like any other
place in the Grand Strand area it is only minutes from gobs of
golf courses. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone. You
get a GREAT place. As for eating. A couple of places have become
paticular favorites of mine. My favorite restraunt of all time
anywhere is T-Bones. Located South of Myrtle Beach about 10
minutes or so. It is very important to remember that it is
T-BONES NOT T-BONZ. They have both places there and T-BONES is
the one I am talking about! For seafood I have taken a sever
loving to Drunken Jack's. It is SOOOOO GOOD! Other places I have
enjoyed include Thouroughbreds, Rossi's, Dick's, Hard Rock, and
All star Aports Cafe. Whatever your pleasure, Myrtle BEach is
the best place I have ever traveled too, and trust me I have
been a lot of places! During August of 1998, My friends Heather, Ashleigh, and I
went to a Third Eye Blind Concert at the House of Blues. Before
going there however, we had a delightful dinner at Dick's Last
Resort. The waiters were very interesting and one of them even
gave my friend Heather their phone number. From there we went to
the concert which was a lot of fun. Ashleigh got a taste of
crowd surfing, and afterwards we got to meet the band. It was a
great experience and I'm hoping to go back to Myrtle Beach in
the Summer of 1999. ISLAND GREEN COUNTRY CLUB is the place to rent for your
vacation. It is on 707 in Surfside Beach. My best friend and her
husband had a condo there for 12 years for their vacations, then
they built their retirement home there. (Beautiful) I rented a
condo there in 1995, and loved it sooooo much I bought a 2
bedroom condo. Island green has a great amen. center (olympic
size pool, sauna, hot tub, weight room, exercise room, craft
classes, outside tennis, outdoor pools, clubhouse and 27 holes
of golf. Kids club on Sundays for kids in amen. center. If you
want to know more about Island Green, E-mail me.I'll tell you
everything to do in Myrtle Beach. We go down from NJ Easter,
summer, and Christmas, so I know the best things to do each
season. We never want to leave to come home. Fav.'s - Food -
T-Bones 0n 17, (not the chain)a really fun rest. with neat
things to look at inside and great food and service, it's the
locals fav. place to eat. Elcera Grande had the very best Me!
xican food at the best prices. Building is plain on the outside,
don't let it fool ya, YUMMMMMM... River city cafe, best for
hambergers,and has the world's biggest and best bloomin
onion(Murr.Inlet) Crab House - I'm a soft shell crab addict and
it's great, also great for soft shells is Anchovies (both in
Murr.Inlet) Crabby Mike's is new and I gained 30lbs. the night I
ate there(on 17, but get in line by 4pm)I could go on & on.
Dixie Stamp. was a total blast, I never heard my husband laugh
so much,fav. beach is Huntington Beach State Park, best beach &
alot more to do there.Riply's Aquarium is a must. I could go on
forever. E-mail me about Island Green and everything else there
is to do. Melissa Myrtle Beach is amazing. There is SO much to do. I have to
say that I think that one of the best things is just laying on
the beach. It's so relaxing. And in my case...you may even meet
someone really special. I went in the summer of 98. The Pavilion
was a blast! We spent two evenings there...and we still didn't
ride or see everything. A really good place to eat is Crabby
Mike's!! I could go on forever and ever about how wonderful
Myrtle Beach is....but you have to go to experience it for
yourself. I loved it so much...I am using it as persuasive
speech in one of my college courses! OUr first family visit to myrtle beach was my first visit and
that was in 1995. We had a wonderful time. I grew up in North
Carolina and the beaches there then I moved to Md. Had not been
down south for al least 14 years. Loved MB as soon as we
arrived. One word of warning do not stay at the SeaMist. That
was horrible. Ugly rooms, noise that security would not do
anything about and so on. Our last visit we stayed at the Sand
Dunes-very nice especially if you have children. The kids club
gives parents a chance to relax!! The best places to visit in
our opoinion is Barefoot Landing, Alabama Theater, Broadway at
the beach and the NASCAR Cafe! Oh and for those of you who have
ever been a server in a restaraunt you have got to go to DICK's
Last Resort to eat, do not expect polite service or fancy
dishes, this is the place for those who like to have fun and
have a good sence of humor! For those of you that love seafood
go to Benjamins Calabash so much food so little time! And the
prices are great (compared to prices in Maryland and surrounding
areas). I was so impressed with the area and the people that in
a couple of years we will be moving there. July of this year
(1999) will be our third trip and I can't wait and neither can
our kids ages 9 & 4! Look out Mrytle Beach here we come again!
I ate at New York Prime. Fabulous!!! Does anyone have the
receipe for the chopped salad - very unusual and worth the trip!
3DWell I am a 15/f, I live in West Virginia and every year we
make the 8 hour trip to Myrtle Beach. I have been going to MB
since I was 2, the drive isn't very bad. Once we arive and get
the key to our condo, we usually stay at Pelican's Landing, we
go settle in the go to Captian Benjamines for dinner. We usually
eat there at least 5 out of the 7 days we are there. One of our
favorite things to do is head over to the outlet malls on 501 or
Barefoot Landing. The putt putts are very entertaining, there is
a wide varity to choose from. If it happens to rain one evening
and we can't go for a walk on the beach we head over to the
Briacliffe Mall and catch a movie. As always we will be going to
MB again this year ( June 26-July 3 ). Our condo is located
right across from Ocean Annies, for those of you who know where
that is. I visited the Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood, and
needless to say I was not impressed at all. The crowds were
awful as were the prices. My alltime favorite thing would have
to be Dixie Stamped or The Gatlin Brothers, both very
entertaining! One wonderful thing about this years trip is I
will be 16 and be able to go crusin' around without my parents
and I can go check out things more to my liking. If you want any

ya at the B*E*A*C*H!=20 I hadn't went to Myrtle Beach since 1980 and finally in 92'
with family of three. First year went to Beachcomber (Nice small
hotel and descent prices). One year went to Flagship (OK place
not nothing to brag about) and next year went to Foxfire (don't
really remember it). Since then, we have gone to the Ocean Plaza
1005 S. Ocean Blvd. Very nice hotel for a cheaper price. Very
good prices at end of Aug. Pretty nice staff and nice hotel
rooms. Indoor and outdoor pool. 2 hot tubs with indoor pool. Not
to close to pavilion but a few blocks south of Family Kingdom.
Very good location. Restaurant wise, we really like Grandma's
Kitchen (close to pavilion). Good food and very nice people and
very down home cooking. Very good prices for breakfast and lunch
buffets. Another way to offset prices to have a good dinner at
night is go to Sonic (drivein) on southend of Myrtle Beach or go
to Godfather's pizza during week lunch buffet. They have all you
can eat pizza and salad for a very low price. More expensive
restaurants that are extremely good is River City Cafe (good
burger place and peanuts you through on the floor); The Farm
House (good home cooking little expensive but worth the try,
antiques all around you while you eat and it's buffet style).
Farmer's Daughter is another really nice restaurant, buffet
styler, good home-style cooking for around $12 an adult. If your
not into seafood to much but want to try it, there's a place
toward North Myrlte Beach on the west side of the road (don't
remember what it's called) but it's really good for around $12
adult. Calabash's are very expensive and my family isn't into
the seafood thing for that much of a cost which is about
$17-$19/person TOO MUCH MONEY. Two more good places are the
Coutry Barn next to Waccamaw and Kirks Ice Cream Parlor across
from mall at 21st Street. Myrtle Beach is our favorite place to
go and people are so nice and friendly down there. E-mail me

1/25/99 Coop@gte.net I love Myrtle Beach!! Went four times in 1998. Am planning on
going back in Feb for my birthday and in July with friends. And
I'm sure I'll be back in between those times, also. We stay at
the Yachtsman. It is very nice. One of the cleanest I've seen. I
enjoy shopping at the Gay Dolphin and Broadway at the Beach is
fantastic!!! Fuddruckers has the best food!! Can't wait to see
the ocean!!! 01/22/99 I visited mb last fall for a golf outing. The best place to
eat was the sea captains house right on the beach. A place that
i do not reccommend is Sam Sneads resturaunt. My wife and I
waited 15 minutes just to get our cocktails! The management and
staff seemed extremely unknowledgable and not very courteous as
well. I ordered a prime rib medium rare and got it well done!
But as I said, the Sea Captains house was definately a dining
experience! Lucious crabcakes that just melt in your mouth. All
in all, I wish they had a resturaunt like that in Ohio!!! Lodging=Sand Dunes url= feedback= We stayed at the Sand Dunes
over the New Years Eve weekend '99. The ocean front suite was
beautiful as well as fully euipped. The Flying Machine Steak
House had a wonderful New Years Eve Dinner and the oceanfront
sports bar was a wonderful place to sit and have drinks after
dinner. All of the food and service was exceptional. The staff
were all extremely friendly and went out of their way to make
sure everything was perfect. With all the onsite restaraunts,
facilities and conveniences, we hardly had to leave the hotel.
The perfect place for a get away. One of the highlights of our trips to MB is eating at K & W.
We would like very much to have one in our home area. How do we

Beach in Sept. WOW had a great time . Things went great . I and
my wife brought are 5 Month old girl and it worked great. We
stayed at Dayton House best western on the Ocean front. This is
a great place to stay, only about five Min from Bradway at the
beach and Pier 14, the pavilion. Our best resturants were Anyone interested in exceptional food, visit Umberto's at
Barefoot Landing. I go three time per year since I have computer
conferences at M.B all the time. I was so impressed, I

Have fun! My husband, son and I were in Myrtle Beach from 6/19 to
6/28/98.We stayed at the Patricia Grand this year and were very
pleased with our room. We stayed on the north end of the
building and couldn't have asked for a nicer view of the
ocean.We could also watch what was going on down on the street.
The room was type G with separate bedroom and living room and
the dining table was set in a floor to ceiling glass alcove with
street view. The rooms were clean and the maid service was
good.I thought the lazy river was small but my 6 yr. old enjoyed
it.It was indoors so it gave him a chance to get out of the hot
sun(we were there in the middle of a heat wave!!) Other years we
have stayed at the Landmark; don't really have any complaints.It
was very nice.Our room was located on the 4th floor directly off
the elevator and the walkway to the parking garage so it was a
little noisy at night . They have a nice size lazy river and the
restaurant ( The Gazebo) was exellent. We have also stayed at
Coral Beach. Your first impressions are "Wow is this place nice
or what?" Don't be fooled by outward appearances. Our room was
overpriced and the furniture was beat up. The air conditioner in
the bedroom was leaking and the carpet on one side of the bed
was soaked. In all fairness the place does have alot to offer
they just need to keep the rooms up better. We decided to stay
north of the pavillion this year so we chose the Patricia Grand
and will be returning there again next year. It is a bit less
hectic at that end of town and much easier to cross the street.
A must is the Pier 14 restaurant. It is located in front of the
Yachtsman resort .Nightly entertainment while dining and the
food is out of this world. Not to mention the view! On Tues.
night Broadway at the Beach has the best fireworks display I've
ever seen. Capt. Hooks mini-golf is great. Race fans have to go
to The Nascar Cafe' the food is good ,the service friendly and
the atmosphere is exciting. If you are into water parks go to
Wild Waters NOT Myrtle Waves. M.W. is $18.95 all day and you
have to pay $1.50 extra if you want a tube for the wave pool.
The lazy river is exactly that . It doesn't move you along at
all. That$18.95 is per/ person. Wild Waters is $16.95 per/person
or $9.95 after 3:00pm. and you dont have to pay extra for a
tube. The lazy river moves you along nicely plus there are
obstacles along the way such as a wave channel and waterfalls
that you can avoid or go through depending on how you feel about
having water dumped on you. Also they have an excellent kiddie
area . They also have go- carts .We love Myrtle Beach .There is
something for everyone. One more thing ; Ripley's Aquarium is
awesome and very relaxing and a great place to go to get out of
the heat ( it was103 degrees outside the day we were there.)

have never had a bad experience. We have stayed at the Breakers
or one of the Sands hotels. Best course by far is Caladonia.
Other choices are Oyster Bay, Moreland, The Dunes,and Tidewater.
My wife's fav is Blackmoor. For a great place to eat try Sam
Sneads. Best ribs in town and a oak grilled grouper that is
tops. 3D the seafare restaurant in murrel,s inlet is excellent. we
ahighly recomend it. the mystic sea resort is great ,good price
and very clean.cindie in knoxville,tenn. We stayed at the Swamp Fox (Swampfox.com)the first week of
August. It was great! The room was clean, the staff accomodating,
the facilities above average. The pools were too cold for our
Floridian blood, however. We only ate breakfast at the on-site
restaurant, but it was very good. Restaurants: We wanted a
special place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and
scoured all the reviews and books. We finally selected **The
Library**. It was exquisite - intimate, not too formal, and
quiet. The food was outstanding the service perfect. Richard,
our waiter, made it a memorable occasion for us. DON'T BOTHER
WITH THE FARM HOUSE! Over an hour wait, most of the food came
out of a can. Crabby Mike's Calabash - it was O.K., but
overpriced, I think. If you like fried food, good selection.
Unlimited crab legs, delicious she-crab soup. Spring House -
good, simple food at very reasonable prices. A great place for
families with kids. 3DJust got back from M.B. Eight glorious days of sun, beach,
food= , and golf. Stayed at the Landmark Resorts. Nice room,
plenty of water attractions (numerous indoor and outdoor pools
and lazy rivers), but the place is HUGE. Always had to wait at
least five minutes for the elevators (we were on the 14th
floor). A car is a must. No matter where you want to go... it's
a drive from whereever you are. If you're renting a car by the
mile you'll get killed. Plenty of food places. Our favorites
were NASCAR and HOOTERS. The food was large portions and great
quality. Also the atmosphere was fantastic. Judge carefully the
seafood buffets. Thereare tons. We tried STEERS and was greatly
disapionted. =20 Golf courses played were Racoon Run (run down,
fairways and greens were beat up, muni courses in NJ are in
better shape but it's the best priced deal in town) Gator HJole
( beautiful course GREEN GRASS everywhere, very scenic but the
staff was not friendly) ?Possom Trot ( nice course, varying
holes, great shape, friendly staff)=20 Just got back from a week at MB. Had a great time, even with
rainy weather. Hit the Hard Rock (wasn't impressed), Nascar Cafe
(good food, fast service), Planet Hollywood, All Star Cafe (had
the best food of all of them), Olive Garden, and Bennetts
Calabash Seafood (plenty of choices besides seafood). Loved
Celebrity Circle at Broadway at the Beach!! Crocodile Rocks was
GREAT!! It was well worth the $5 cover. Also if you love
Southern Rock go to the Easyriders Cafe. Great band called Three
Legged Dog was playing. They had no cover charge and good drink
specials. We loved just goin to the upstairs bar area, playin
pool and listening to the band. Fat Tuesdays was great too, have
to check out the daquiri setup. We also hit the rest of Broadway
at the Beach. Very nice stores, nice enviornment. Loved the
aquarium but forgot my camera for it :( Recommend you learn some
of the side streets fast or else you will be stuck in traffic
alot. Also there are coupon books everywhere, use them. I really
wanted to go to Murrells Inlet but didn't get a chance. Its ok
though...already planning on goin back next year!!!! my fave to eat in m.b. is the crab house. it is great. We just got back from visiting Myrtle Beach. We stayed in
North Myrtle Beach at Tilghmans Beach Resort Condos. It was a
nice place. It was clean and kept up well. We ate at Bennett's(a
waste), bypass it for sure.Unless you like Duff's, then you will
feel right at home. Hard Rock Cafe was great, nobody complained
about the food(get a pig sandwich),T-Bonz was excellent!If you
like Italian eat at Tony's(great atmosphere)They have a man with
a quitar singing from table to table.We also ate at Outrigger's,
it was Ok. None of us were impressed with the food,but the
service was great.We really expected better food for the money.
Fuddrucker's at Barefoot landing had great burgers! The
restaraunts at Barefoot landing is the only good thing I can say
about that place! Go to Broadway at the Beach, that's the place
to go!You have to see Ripley's Aquarium! They also have a lazer
show at night at Broadway. There are all kind of Putt- Putt
courses for the kids. Their favorite was Mayday Golf in North
Myrtle Beach. For a great tour boat ride...Go on the Sea
Screamer, located in Little River. The kids loved it, it a huge
speed boat. You go out on the ocean and we got to see dolphins.
I almost forgot. If you want good homemade ice cream. Stop at
Painters on Kings Highway in North Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the Captain's Quarters from 8/2 to 8/5 and had a
great time. The staff is helpful and gives prompt service. The
rooms are clean and in good condition. The parking deck was full
by 10:30 or 11:00 each night. We have a three year old and an
18-month old. We found lots of activities for them at both
Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach. Ripley's Aquarium
was impressive. We went to both Family Kingdom and the Pavilion,
and found Family Kingdom to be better for the children. The
highlight of the week for me was the Nascar Cafe. Best ribs I've
ever eaten. Michael was our 'driver'. Ultimate California Pizza
was good. Do not go to the IHOP on King's Highway and about S.
14th. Ave. The orange juice was watery. We planned our whole
trip based on comments from this webpage. Thanks to all who made
submissions. R. Kenneth McFalls We spent a long weekend at Myrtle Beach 7/31/98. We stayed
for one night at the Patricia North due to recommendations we
read on this travelogue. We loved the hotel and the rooms are
very nice. The parking is a different story. The ramp to the
parking lot is so steep that my car could not go up the ramp
even after scrapping. Another couple in the elevator asked us at
random, how many scratches our car had received on the parking
ramp. They said they received a new set of scratches everytime
they tried to leave the hotel. Even the person that worked there
stated that their car scratched everytime they parked for work
but at least they are getting paid not paying $155 for a night.
Parking downstairs is for conversion vans only. If you have a
car with ground effects or anything that could possibly drag,
you should be aware of the potential parking problem. The
continental breakfast was orange juice, coffee, and doughnuts.
Several people mentioned that there should be more choices.
Crabby Mikes has a great buffet and is worth the money although
I wish they had an option of buffet without crablegs so that I
could go back and enjoy all of the other delicious food. Restaurants for the most part were wonderful. We had a BAD
experience at Planet Hollywood. They are not very accomodating
to large groups. We had nine in our group and were willing to
break down to two or three smaller groups. After waiting 2 1/2
hours, (almost 10 pm at night), we decided to leave and go eat
somewhere else. They weren't interested in breaking us down to
smaller groups. I'd suggest you don't go there unless you have a
very small group...or are willing to spend countless hours
waiting! July 27, 1998. Just got back from Myrtle beach and I want to
share our experience with Beach Dunes and the lumpy mattress on
the sofa bed. The mattress was very old and lumpy so I called
the front desk to report the problem. Within 1 hour of calling,
someone stopped by to replace the old mattress with a brand new
one. That's what I call customer service! I want to add that the
staff was friendly and there was maid service every single day
of our one week stay. Now the bad stuff, the room reeked of
smoke and alcohol and the building was kind of old and rundown,
but I want to mention that because the staff was very friendly
and the lumpy mattress experience ended up being a pleasant one,
and the overall customer service was excellent, we would not
hesitate to go back. So if a friendly staff and good customer
service is important to you, go to the Beach Dunes. Check out
Captain Benjamin's Calabash Seafood restaurant if you want all
you can eat crab legs! The Family Kingdom Oceanfront Water Park
is a must! If you have small children or toddlers, the
children's area at this water park is a nice size and great for
the little ones. V.Axelrod... 3D We just returned from a 10 day vacation in MB. We were
there from July 12 to July 22. We stayed at the Sea Mist for
part of the time and were extremely disappointed. That place is
so spread out (22 buildings). We had to have our map with us the
whole time. Don't let the ads for this place mislead you. The
water park is nothing special and depending on which building
you are in, can be a challenge to even find. The rooms are
nothing special either. It appeared to me that the owners are
trying to buy up all the surrounding small hotels and it is just
too spread out. The SandCastle on N. Ocean Blvd was a nice place
to stay. The seafood at Seafare Rest. in Murrell's Inlet was
absolutely the best we have ever had and with a coupon was very
reasonably priced. We also enjoyed Medieval Times a lot. Very
fun and entertaining. Also, I would encourage everyone to take
time to visit Huntington Beach State Park, it is a very nice
park. We saw alligators and the crabbing was excellent. The
beach was the cleanest and widest we saw. Just pay once and you
can use the park until 10 p.m. There was hardly any people on
the beach. Really quiet and relaxing. 3DWarning!!! We just returned from our trip to myrtle beach.
We checked in at the Palace Resort on July 19,1998 and left on
the 22nd of July. We were told our room was ready when we
checked in at 1:30pm, but when we got to our room the bed linens
had lots of hair and make-up on them and the carpet had not been
vaccumed. We called room service and alerted them of our unclean
room, but they argued and said it was clean. 2 hours later they
finally came up and changed the linens. I had to vaccum our room
the next day myself. Our toliet also overflowed an hour after
checking in it took 2 1/2 hours and one trip to the desk and 2
calls to get it cleaned up. The garbage disposal also was broke.
I found that out after dumping cereal down it and flipping the
switch. The maid told us it did'nt work after I did that, so we
had to put with the smell of food that was dumped in the
disposal, since the maintance crews were to busy. We also had
vists from 1 to 2 inch roaches. ! After speaking with other
guest=20 there we were'nt the only ones with problems. Others
had no hot water, no air, smelly rooms and so on. The wait at
the elevators averaged 10 to 15 min. The outdoor spas had cold
water in them and alot of the jets were'nt working on them also.
The pools were very cloudy. I could'nt wait until it was time to
check out. These people that are empolyed there all need to be
fired and replaced with people that can properly run a resort.
On by previous trip to the beach in June of 98 we stayed at the
Crown Reef Resort it was great, they had 20 pools and very cheap
breakfast and lunch menus in one the 3 resturants they have.
They were booked when we came down on this trip, I really missed
the Crown Reef while we were staying at the Palace. Other than
our stay everything else was great. If you want a good place to
eat we sugguest Bummz Beach Cafe at 2002 N. Ocean blvd, they
have great philly's and grilled chix sandwichs. You can dine in
or outside on the patio/lawn which is ocean front. They have
bands that=20 play outside in the evenings. Sorry this is so
long but I thought other people ought to know about the Palace
before making reservations. Try the Crown Reef Resort you want
be sorry it's great and they appreciate their patrons. =20 My husband and I went to MB the last 2 years and we stayed at
the SAIL INN 2507 N Ocean Blvd. We stayed in the west bldg on
the 3rd floor it has 3 rooms on the 3rd floor with a nice size
deck with chairs and lounge chairs. We sat out there every night
with our Rum and Coke it was VERY VERY relaxing..It was a
reasonable price......If you get a chance you might want to stay
there on the 3rd floor in the west bldg....HOPE Y'ALL ENJOYED
YOURSELVES AS MUCH AS WE DID...... For a different kind of
experince you must also go to Barefoot Landings and eat at
Dick's Last Resort....the food was REALLY good.... 3DJust returned from MB (7/1-7/5/98)....Had a great
time...stayed at the Beach Cove Resort..awesome place to stay!
Broadway on the Beach has everything for the traveler to do/see.
Nascar Cafe...great food...also Crabhouse was nice too.=20 7/13/98 We just returned from a week's vacation in Myrtle
Beach and it was the best vacation that we've had in years. We
stayed at The Caribbean Resort at 3000 N. Ocean Blvd. It was
close enough for the teenagers to walk to the Pavilion but yet
far enough away from the noise for those of us that enjoy a
little solitude (if that is possible during the week of the 4th
of July). The hotel and grounds were immaculate and the staff
were very helpful. The best place that we found for meals was at
Broadway on the Beach, Planet Hollywood. Very generous portions
and reasonable prices. We usually shared our meals because the
portions were too much for one person. Broadway on the Beach has
exceptional shopping and dining. Can't wait to return next year.
we are planning a trip in sept. we love m.b.. i have been
every year except one since i was born-25 years ago! my
favorites are broadway at the beach to shop and the crab house
to eat.my family loves to eat at lee's inlet kitchen in
murrell's inlet. last year my parent's took my brother,
myself,and two of our friends we stayed at litchfield resort
(close to pawley's island) and we had a blast.it is a super nice
place and the condo gave us all plenty of prrivacy when we
divided up the girls and boys. i plan to have my honeymoon in
m.b. next summer -just like my parents did 29 years ago! My wife and I visited Myrtle Beach for the first time last
week (June 27 - July 4 '98) and had a GREAT time! It was very
hot and humid, but our hotel had 5 pools and the ocean was a
nice 85 degrees. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort on Ocean
Blvd (the "Heart" of Myrtle Beach) -- a nice place but parking
was a nightmare and there was no elevator in the building we
were in. We were next to the main building, which is 3 floors.
It was difficult carrying luggage up to the second especially
with the temp 100 degrees. Broadway at the Beach was great. We
visited the Ripley Aquarium (similar to the Baltimore aquarium),
Planet Hollywood, and the IMAX theatre. If you want a really
good steak dinner goto Texans which is on Ocean Blvd (right hand
side coming from M.B.) before restaurant row. Steak was perfect
(generous portion) and the salad bar is great (the chili is the
best I have ever had). We really enjoyed the Dixie Stampede
which is a dinner and a show owned by Dolly Parton. They give
you a whole chicken, soup, potatoes, pork loin, apple turnover
for dessert, and unlimited beverages (iced-tea, Pepsi, coffee,
tea). They do not serve alcholic beverages, but the frozen
drinks are great. Also be sure to visit Myrtle Waves a HUGE
water park. Lots of fun and a great way to keep cool. We will
definitly visit Myrtle Beach again! 7-1-98: We just returned from Myrtle Beach and stayed for the
first time at The Palace. I was very disappointed. Not only did
I hear so many vistors complaining about the rooms not being
clean, but I saw first hand. When I opened the door to the room,
potato chips were on the couch and on the floor. Hair was on the
door and floor of the bathroom. I didn't complain because I had
heard others complain to the managers and their comment was
"so"! I had my cleaning supplies with me and I cleaned up the
mess. When a person has to pay a high price a night they expect
a clean, sanitized room and the personnel of the resort should
be helpful and courteous. After all, if it were not for the
visitors, they would not even have a job. I can say the maid was
helpful in providing extra towels and washcloths when I
requested them. I am here to tell you that if I could not find
reservations but at The Palace I just would not visit Myrtle
Beach again. The best place ever is Tropical Winds but when we
needed reservations they were no vacancies. Next year, I will
plan my vacation so I will be able to stay at Tropical Winds.
Why in this world "The Strand Magazine" has The Palace listed as
a top resort and not Tropical Winds is beyond me?! Places to
eat: when the Alabama Grill is rebuilt that will be the place to
eat. Hollywood Planet is ridicous, cheeseburgers for $8.95! What
a rip off! and for what, just to see big screen movie reviews
and an hour and one-half wait! The Alabama Threater Gift Shop is
also great with many Alabama souvenirs and other neat things!
Myrtle Beach Treasures & Gifts on West Blvd. is a neat little
gift shop with reasonable prices. It has some cute gift items
not the junky stuff. The clerks in both of these shops were very
nice. One last note, if we want to make a statement to resorts
like "The Palace" we have to let them know we mean business by
not giving them any business. I will also write the Chamber of
Commerce and The Strand Magazine. I think we need to take a
stand and just maybe these people will clean up their act! Just got back from Myrtle Beach. Had a great time--with great
weather. We stayed at MAGNOLIA PLACE in a two bedroom/two bath
condo with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. It was
marvelous and very reasonably priced. It was very clean. It is
about a mile from the beach, but we enjoyed being away from the
hustle and bustle (and traffic) of the strip. It is right off 17
between Broadway at the Beach and the Dixie Stampede. We also
ate at a great seafood buffet called Crabby Mike's on Business
17. We went to Huntington Beach State Park when we wanted to go
to the beach. Great wide beaches with not many people. They have
a marsh with alligators and a castle that you can go through. It
is right off of 17 about 18 miles out of Myrtle Beach. Well
worth the trip. Be aware there are several seafood places with similar names,
for instance, 'CAPTAIN BENJAMIN'S CALABASH SEAFOOD' AND 'THE
ORIGINAL CAPTAIN BENJAMIN'S CALABASH SEAFOOD', the best choice
is 'THE ORIGINAL CAPTAIN BENJAMIN'S CALABASH SEAFOOD'; the decor
is very nautical, a dry aquarium, several large models of ships,
the staff is very helpful and proud of their restaurant. Get the
seat by the inner-coastal waterway, very large boats cruise by.
Extremely large buffet with seafood, and southern style cooking
for those who do not like seafood. Abit pricey and it is
impossible to get someone to answer the phone, but all in all
one of the best places out there. CROWN REEF - April 1998. Very nice hotel. Appeared to be one
of the nicer places in South Mrytle Beach. We really enjoyed the
20 swimming pools, saunas and lazy river. Rooms were better than
average, ours had a small kitchen. Very reasonable breakfast and
lunch specials. Enjoyed eating at the NASCAR Cafe and really
enjoyed the Medievil Times dinner and show. me and my wife just returned from a 3-day weekend to myrtle
beach,it was my first time there,being from n.c. i've always
gone to atlantic beach, it really pales in conparison,we were
very impressed with the CAPTAINS QUARTERS,its in the heart of
myrtle beach but far enought away from the pavilion that its
very quite,and very clean.BROADWAY AT THE BEACH, is great, and
the, THE DIXIE STAMPEDE, is well worth the cost,got to go back
we could'nt do it all in just three days.......b&j. My wife and I are planning another trip to Myrtle Beach this
August 1998. This a GREAT PLACE for a vacation. Some of our
favorite spots are The Hard Rock Cafe, IMAX theater, Ripley's
Aquarium (This is awesome!), gift shops at Broadway at the
Beach, and of course the unlimited number of minature putt putt.
The places that did not impress us much are Barefoot Landing
(shops are real expensive), Planet Hollywood ( the food stunk),
and Bennet's Calabash. We stayed at the Caravell Resort our
first year and it was great but a little pricey for our budget.
Our previous visit we stayed at the Capri Court which was so so.
It smelled of cigarettes, the parking was a hassle, and it had a
unusual driveway that went beside the lawn area. We are planning
to stay at the Roxanne Motel or the Poindexter this year. I
would appreciate any experiences or recommendations for these
motels or any other motel that is reasonably priced and CLEAN!!

Hampton Inn at Northwood is nice, reasonable, and clean. It
offers a continental breakfast and has free cable and the second
and third person in the room stays free! March 3, 1998 I just returned from Myrtle Beach recently and
I had the greatest time there with friends from school! We
decided that we needed a new place to go, so we decided why not
a place with many different things to do, a good beach, and
many, many compliments? And so we did- I convinced my teacher
that it was time to take a trip! We left from Florida around
8:00 in the morning and went on I-95 all the way up to South
Carolina. Make sure that you stop and get some breakfast at
Waffle House or Cracker Barrel. The stop in Brunswick and
Jessup, Georgia (7A, US 25 and 341) is a great stop for
breakfast and dinner. They offer a nice, clean Cracker Barrel
and IHOP restaurant. There is a Howard Johnson's (make sure to
stop there for ice cream because their flavors are the best), a
Shoney's, a Quincys Family Restaurant, and many more places to
eat. Entering South Carolina is good- we got to Myrtle Beach at
around 8:30 PM and stayed at the Hampton Inn at Northwood. What
a nice hotel- it offers a continental breakfast and has a clean
area for swimming. You also get free HBO and local calls-
CHILDREN 18 OR YOUNGER STAY FREE! (And THAT was a miracle- we're
all 16 and 17!) Broadway at the Beach is a must because it
offers EVERYTHING! It has an IMAX theatre offering a show every
hour, a Ripley's Sea Aquarium with so much to offer, and some of
the greatest places to eat such as the Nascar Cafe and Planet
Hollywood. The Hard Rock Cafe is not as nice as the other two-
the food seemed to be not well prepared at the time and our
waitor was rude- also lines there are too long. I do like their
gift shop, though. Briarcliffe Mall is alright- it has a Belk,K-Mart,
JC Penney's, a Limited, and more. The Pavillion is major fun- it
offers a roller coaster!! For good dining on North King's
Highway, try the Olive Garden or Garcia's Mexican Restaurant-
the food there is delicious! Also try Medieval Times- it has
great chicken! Magic On Ice is very good. I'm going back here
again! Good luck on your next trip! I just visited Myrtle Beach and I had a TREMENDOUS time!
There's everything for people my age (I'm 17) and we went to
BROADWAY ON THE BEACH, the PAVILLION, and MYRTLE WAVES WATER
PARK! Broadway on the Beach is this cool new place that's only a
few years old and offers everything from stores to top-class
entertainment. They have an IMAX theatre that shows nice shows
like ones on the Grand Canyon. There is a Nascar Cafe and Planet
Hollywood. The beach stores are great fun. The Pavillion is a
place that's kind of like the county fair, but better. It has a
large roller coaster and a ferris wheel and other things. The
water park offers the BEST water rides. For the greatest dining
experience, Benjamin's Calabash has all-you-can-eat-seafood and
Medieval Times is always fun. And to top it all off, there is a
Ripley's and Motion Master. Motion Masters are theatres with
seats that interact with the screen. Traveling on I-95 is not
too bad, the stop-7A at Brunswick and Jessup, Georgia offers
Quincy's Family restaurant, Shoney's and more, and make sure to
stop at the Howard Johnson's for ice cream and Cracker Barrel or
Waffle House for breakfast! Good luck on your next trip to
Myrtle Beach- I'll sure be there again! I've read through all the posted comments and failed to see
anything about vacation condos. My husband and I own property on
Shore Drive, at Pelican's Watch and Pelican's Landing. Shore
Drive is on the north end of Myrtle Beach, almost in North
Myrtle Beach. For those familiar with the Area, these two units
are between Ocean Annie's beachfront club, and the Radisson
Kingston Plantation. For those of you unhappy with your
accomodations, a three-bedroom condo is very reasonable,
especially in off-season (Sept to May). We happen to rent
through Chicora Beach Holiday, but there are other companies
that represent these properties. My family loves the beach! Our
favorite restaurants are Rossi's, Bovine's in Murrell's Inlet,
and believe it or not, the Nascar Cafe. Myrtle Waves on Bypass
17 is great. Broadway at the Beach is everything they advertise.
We visited the aquarium and thought it was great. Outlet Mall on
501 is also great. We also like to rent a pontoon and cruise up
the waterway to Bird Island. We have golfed MB National, Wild
Wing, the Grandaddy, Waterway Hills, Arcadian Shores to name a
few... the more expensive the course, the better shape they are
in. You will find golf specials, and if you decide on a
less-expensive course, it is typically not as nice. I just started going back to Myrtle Beach in September of
1995. It had changed so much from when I used to go every summer
for 2 weeks. The best thing I have seen is The Eddie Miles show.
He was just wonderful. Everyone should go to his show and you
will keep going back again and again. I have been 4 times and
already have 2 more scheduled. The best place to eat is Uncle
Johns steak and pancake house on Kings Hwy. Breakfast is
excellent and very reasonable priced. Please e mail me if you
would like to know anything about Eddie Miles. He is as close to
Elvis as you will ever get. Miles Myrtle Beach is where I grew up, and I sure do miss it! I now
live in Kansas. Anyway, if your interested in nice inexpensive
hotels, I recommend the Sea Dip. It is located on the ocean
across from Myrtle Square Mall, and just minutes away from
Barefoot Landing and Restaurant Row (that's what we call North
Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand). As far as the nightlife goes, I
suggest going to 2001, located in North Myrtle. There are 3
different dance floors, and the club spotlights women! The
owners know that wherever there is women, there are bound to men
right on their heels! So, if your single, head to 2001! The
Headroom is a wonder- ful placeto go for the younger of-age
drinkers. They feature some top name artists, and local talents
too. The two story dance club is where you go to
pppppaaaaarrrrrrttttttyyyyyy! Not to mention, their black lights
will make you go blind! If you love to eat good seafood and
steak, Knickerbockers On The Water in Barefoot Landing is
wonderful and inexpensive! Just tell them Tina sent you! Maybe
they'll give you a discount!!! Last but not least, if you're in
the mood for a good show with dinner, the Dixie Stampede is the
place to go! I worked there as a saloon girl, and boy was it
fun! They start you off with a wonderful saloon show, then move
you into the arena for an exciting horseback rivalery b/w the
North and the South! Not to mention you have to eat with your
hands! Hope I have been of help to some of you first timers!
Have a good time! This will be our fifth year at Myrtle Beach and we enjoy it
very much. We find the beach spotless and the food is great.
This year we are staying at the Indigo. The view is great and
the service is very accommodating. While you are there visit
Cracker Barrel and K & W Cafeteria. Hope you enjoy your visit.

best fried Shrimp I have ever eaten. Hi. Ive been going to Myrtle Beach since I was 2. Its a place
for families. Tennagers have alot of fun there too. Good places
to eat would be: My family and I have benn to Myrtle Beach on vacation for the
past two years, and we will be returning again this summer. We
stay at the Tilghman Beach and Raquet Club in North Myrtle
Beach. Very nice 3 bedroom condo on the beach. My children ages
12 and 16 love it. There is so much to do for children and
adults alike. My favorite is the Medieval Times. Great
entertainment for the children. We usually vacation in June and
the weather has always been great. Best restaurant for us is "Benjamins".
Great family vacation sport. We have visited Myrtle Beach for 3 years now. We first stayed
at the Caravelle. It is fine but do not stay on the seventh
floor by the hot tub. Parties all night long. We also stayed at
the Captain's Quarters. The room was very nice but the rest of
the hotel was a little run down. We like the Crown Reef the best
of the 3. The hotel is beautiful and it is removed from downtown
somewhat. The breakfast prices and lunch prices are unbelievably
cheap and the food is good. There is a Damon's on the ocean
right beside it and a pier is close by. A putt putt par 3 is
right across the street. We would definitely stay there again.
Wife and I just returned from our 5th trip in 2+ years. These
are a few of our faves..... My husband and my two sons go to Myrtle Beach just about
every year!!! We love it. The Patricia Grand North is awesome
for families. The original Benjamin's Calabash is the best. Look
for early bird Qpons!!! Have fun!!! TAKE IT FROM A GUY WHO LIVES HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the
weather is very unpredictable. it could be 30 or it could be 60.
it could rain but you never know. if you want CLEAN, INEXPENSIVE
LODGINGS that are CENTRALLY LOCATED look no further. stay at THE
CALYPSO MOTOR INN. rooms are very clean. they are remodeling one
of the three bldgs. right now. rooms are the cheapest in town.
they are located right in the center of myrtle beach and
anywhere you go from there is easy to get to. the staff if
friendly and helpful. maid service is great. laundry facilities.
well lit parking right outside the front door. it is 1 block
back from the beach which means you can see the beach but it
takes you 2 min. to walk across ocean blvd. and be on the beach.

The Heritage was the best course I've ever played--incredible
greens. Oyster Bay had a great layout-real challenging with
beautiful holes. Blackmoor was my wife's favorite--good
condition and not too intimidating for women, yet fun to play
for men. We were paired with some of the nicest people too.
Carolina Roadhouse had great salad and prime rib.Las Vegas Golf
and Martins had the best deals, Golf dimensions was most
expensive. Stayed at the Caravelle--excellent place, we're going
back there next year.Can hardly wait! 9/23/97-9/26/97 first visit to myrtle beach, traveled with
wife, sister and hubby. stayed a the sea dip, very pleased with
the 2-bedroom oceanfront, great rates, very friendly staff found
information about the sea dip from this web site prior to trip,
apon arrival the front desk gave us room key 669 to look at the
room. visited house of blues (by way of awesome limo, great
driver dean), nascar cafe, planet hollywood, and of course
broadway of the beach great ribs at tony romas, the crab legs
were also great at benjamins. it may have been our first vist
but its not the last. thanks for a great time myrtle beach!!!!
Best course on the strand is gator hole. Tough Tough course
nice people and friendly servants. Best rest. is noonies east.
Best goos goos on the easr coast. Just got back from our very first visit to Myrtle Beach.
We've already checked out locations in Garden City for next
year's vacation. Lodging in Garden City was very limited but it
was so peaceful and quiet. Met lots of nice folks on the Garden
City Fishing Pier while listening to the band or merely ocean
watching. Visited all the typical tourist locations -- Barefoot
Landing, Hard Rock Cafe, etc. Got tickets to see the Gatlin
Brothers at the Gatlin Brothers Theater at Fantasy Harbor. It
was well worth the money; they certainly are talented
performers. Forget all those seafood buffets -- go to the
Outriggers in North Myrtle Beach. The seafood there was almost
as good as Maryland seafood and the staff and service was
excellent. Lived in Maryland all my life and never cared too
much for Ocean City, MD -- both my husband and I fell in love
with Myrtle Beach; can't wait to until next year. Just returned from a week in M.B. Stayed at Coral Beach
Resort - very satisfied, especially enjoyed oceanfront bar,
grill and d.j. Loved Broadway at the Beach. Fireworks on Tuesday
nights - spectacular. Husband and son golfed M.B. National,
(King's North), Arrowhead, Wacashaw (sp?) and Oyster Bay - they
enjoyed all of them. Restaurants - Carolina Roadhouse - great,
Dick's Last Resort - very entertaining. We really enjoyed

Pins 718@aol.com Family just returned from M.B. (August 1997). Stayed at Coral
Beach Resort. We loved it! The bar, d.j. and grill (oceanfront)
were a great addition. Broadway at the Beach was fantastic.
Restaurants were all good. Carolina Roadhouse is recommended -
good steaks. The beach was really nice by the Coral Beach
Resort. No complaints - we're going back next year! We are just back from our week long vacation at Myrtle Beach
(8/24/97) and can now appreciate all of the rave reviews about
the Grand Strand by other vacationers. We've spent most of our
beach vacations in MD. and VA. and think the water at Myrtle
Beach is much warmer and somewhat calmer. Beach parking is easy
to find. Loads of public access, even if you go during the prime
time (12:00 pm and on). Beaches vary-- those at the north end
are more expansive, but there are no shells. Those down by
Surfside are narrow but there's a great family atmosphere and
lots of shells if you like to walk along the beach. We did most
of our shopping at Walmart on Route 544. It's open 24 hours a
day and the prices were good. We hit Broadway at the Beach and
would definitely recommend it. The line at the Hard Rock Cafe
wasn't too long (we got there on a weekday at 4:00 pm). We
really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was adequate and
reasonable. The miniature golf course there- Dragon's Lair,
looks great. MY FAMILY AND I JUST RETURNED FROM MYRTLE BEACH, FOR THE
FIRST TIME AND LOVED IT. WE ARE PLANNING TO BUY A TIMESHARE AT
THE SANDS OCEAN CLUB OR SANDS BEACH CLUB. WE STAYED AT THE
FOREST DUNES RESORT, WHICH WAS A NICE PLACE AND VERY SPACIOUS
ONE BEDROOM CONDO. NOT A LARGE PROPERTY, 2 POOLS A LAZY RIVER. A
SMALL CAFE STYLE EATERY, BEACH IS ACROSS THE STREET, AND GREAT
VIEW OF THE OCEAN FROM YOUR BALCONY!!. BROADWAY AT THE BEACH IS
TERRIFIC, AND THE MINATURE GOLF COURSES ARE GREAT. WE WILL BE
RETURNING NEXT YEAR SAME TIME!!!! My husband and I went to Myrtle Beach for the first time last
August, specifically because Tom Jones was at THE PALACE
THEATRE. After we arrived, we found it hard to believe that we'd
never been before, since we live fairly close by (in Georgia).
We had a wonderful time and plan to go back this October (to see
Tom again! - my love affair with him goes way back, thankfully
my husband is very understanding ;-). We are looking forward to
seeing the new aquarium and hope we can get into the HARD ROCK
CAFE this year. It was impossible last year since it was new and
the lines were unbelievable. BROADWAY AT THE BEACH is great -
THE CRAB HOUSE was a wonderful seafood restaurant. I also
understand there is a new PLANET HOLLYWOOD. Can't wait for my
Fall vacation! My family and I just returned from Myrtle Beach 7-12-97. For
the past ten years when visiting Myrtle Beach, we have stayed in
the same resort-THE MYRTLE BEACH RESORT. This resort is
excellent. With six pools, saunas, a gift shop, deli,
convenience store, and oceanfront bar and grill, you couldn't
ask for anything more. While in Myrtle Beach, I strongly suggest
eating at SOUTHERN SUPPERS and THE GHOST SHIP. I also suggest
visiting BROADWAY AT THE BEACH and BAREFOOT LANDING. These
shopping areas are excellent and beautiful. My family and I
can't wait to get back to Myrtle Beach next year! NEVER! NEVER! STAY AT "SURFRIDER" CONNECTED WITH "BOARDWALK".
We stayed there we made reservations over the phone. We should
have known better than to stay there because they had rooms at
the last minute. They were kind of high and some of the areas
looked kind of run down and the carpet looked shabby in the
hallways and elevators. The sauna room was very small room for
two people to set. You could not stretch out and relax. My room
was fairly good but not what I expected it to be for the price I
had to pay $740.00 for six days and no triple AAA discount
unless you stay seven days. At the end of my sixth day I wanted
to add that day or get triple a discount for that day and they
said no way. Thats not the only thing I didn't like about the
place. We were getting ready to go out and there was this awful
unmis- takeble smell in the hallway. (pot) We had forgotten
some- thing and went back to get it and before I could reach the
door, there was a knock on my door it was the hotel manager. She
ask if we smelt something funny and I said yes and she asked if
she could enter our room. She looked all around the room with
her eyes and made me feel real funny. Then she said there was a
complaint that there was pot smell coming from our room. Well I
got real upset and told her I didn't like being acused of such
things that I don't and never have and she said they don't allow
such things to go on in this hotel. I was never so embrassed in
my life. What I think was the house keeping was doing a little
of it because they were out side my door before it happened. We
will never stay there again. My fiaunce and I still managed to
have a good at Hard Rock cafe, deep sea fishing with Captain
Dicks Fleet. We had agreat time at Medival Times a great show
and dinner and everyone should go there at least one time. Great
Seafood at Calabash resturants. Do not eat at a place called
Plant- ation Kitchens awful and expensive. There is a show for
people who like "Elvis" Its called Eddie Miles Theather and he
is great. He looks, sounds, and acts like Elvis to the point you
would think it was his twin. Well I just wanted to share a few
of the good and the bad experiences. Next time I will stay some
where a lot nicer and make reservations a head of time. i'm a 14 year old and i have been going to myrtle beach for
10 years now. we bought a timeshare at Riptide Beach Club 2 and
have been staying there for the last 8 years. The last couple of
years we have been "stepping out" and going to some fun new
sights in the grand strand. the Alabama theater is great and is
a great american show. the Dixie Stampede and Medeival times are
also fun places that like to get kids and grown-ups involved
with the show. we went to broadway at the beach last year and
saw the HardRock cafe. it took forever to get in and inside
people were all around and it was so loud that my parents
couldnt hear what i was saying and i was standing right beside
them. Micky Gilleys resturant was a very cool place ( if you
like country music) and it was very colorful. we always walk to
Emmits calabash which is right at our condo, located at 2806.
ocean bulavard. ( one street up from the patricia grand, which
is next door to our condo) emmits gets an A+ from us on seafood,
hospitality and cleanness. the patricia grand has a resturant
inside and we get up early every morning to eat breakfast there.
its has a wonder oncean front view. we're going back August 15
and are going to stay for a week. i can't wait but i can
remember what it was like a few years back and it wasn't as
crowded as it is now. looks like the the secrets out. so whoever
reads this before aug. 15, email me and tell me whats new this
year. thanks! My family just went to Myrtle Beach for our bi-annual family
reunion. We were there the week of July 12th thru the 19th. We
have our reunions every other year, this being our 5th reunion
there. We have always stayed at The Anchorage on North Ocean
Blvd. We keep returning to the same place because it is very
clean, well maintained and very attractive as far as the condo
units and the grounds around the Anchorage. There is a pool
which is great fun for everyone and the beach is just across the
street from the Anchorage. My family would recommend The
Anchorage to anyone who wants to stay somewhere that feels like
home. The condo's have kitchens, two bathrooms, two-three
bedrooms, VCR's, sterios and many other comforts of home. Our
reunions consist of about 30 people and we all keep returning to
this place because we have been satisfied now every time we go.
Myrtle Beach offers so much for the family to do. We used to go
to Barefoot Landing, but now that theres Broadway at the Beach,
Barefoot Landing cannot compare. Don't waste your time going
there. If you want to go to a very good seafood restaurant on
the water that is casual, Drunken Jacks in Murrells Inlet is THE
BEST! Mrytle Beach Waves water park was very expensive (60.00
for a family of four) and not worth it! There was barely
anything a child under the age of 5/6 could do. If you want to
see a good movie, go to the IMEX theatre at Broadway at the
Beach. It offers movies that are exciting and entertaining on a
very large screen that makes you feel as if you are a part of
the movie. It is no ordinary movie, it is different and
refreshing. We saw the movie on the Grand Canyon and that was a
good one for all ages. I could not say enough about Myrtle
Beach. We love it there and plan on going back in 1999 for our

Most times a week during the summer and a couple of long
weekends during the fall and spring. My girls age 28 and 30 have
beeg going to MB since they were toddlers and I am now taking my
grandsons--ages 7 and 12-during spring break and during the
summer. We vacationed the week of June 1-7 and this was first
time in all these years weather was bad, but we still enjoyed
other things besides the beach. The music theaters, minature
golf, movie theaters, Broadway at the Beach, shopping, and great
food. The Carolina Roadhouse was very good. First time we had
eaten there. There salads with House Dressing are great. Also,
there filet mignon. We own a timeshare at the Yachtman's and
have been very pleased with it. We know what to expect in our
unit and are not disappointed as it sometimes happens when you
just pick a motel. Would like to hear from anyone about good
places to eat. Hello MB fans!! My husbands family and I just returned from
MB. It was great, the weather couldn't of been better. The ocean
was warm, the sun hot and the breeze cool. My husband and his
family has been vacationing in MB for the past 28? years. I
started going with them 5 years ago. I never knew a vacation
till then. This time we stayed at the Patricia North. it was a
nice hotel. We usually stay at the Sea Horn. Not much to look at
from the outside, but a nice place to stay. Very clean. Southern
Suppers is the best place to eat for buffett. We go pracitically
every night. To everyone that will be going soon...Have fun and
take me with you!!!! Just returned from MB. Had a nice time and the weather was
beautiful. However, we stayed at the Hilton Ocean Golf Resort
and found it to be quite over priced for the services and
atmosphere. It was an average hotel at above average rates
(nearly $200 per night/dbl occy). The pool area was small, the
rooms average and the AC system sounded like a car idling. The
B'fast buffet that was poolside offered nothing that could not
have been purchased at a 7-11 for less money. For a nice dinner,
try New York Prime or Thoroughbreds. We also had a great time at
Dick's Last Resort (not for the shy or faint hearted). Our family just got back from Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the
Sand Dunes resort hotel. It was very nice. Our childrn enjoyed
the kids club they have. The pool and lazy river were also a big
hit. We ate at Texans. It was wonderful. The ribs and steaks
were delicious. Also we ate at River City Cafe. The burgers were
delicious. Our kids liked the baskets of peanuts and that you
could throw your shells on the floor. We drove to Calabash N.C.
one night for supper and ate at Calahan's Cala bash. It was well
worth the drive...Great seafood. We all enjoyed Broadway at the
Beach. Good shops, IMAX, and the new Ripley's Aquarium(kids
enjoyed alot). Don't waste your time at Barefoot Landing , go to
Broadway at the beach. Also, coming soon to Myrtle, a minor
league Atlanta Braves team which will be located across from
Broadway at the beach. We're a young family of 5 plus an Aunt looking for a quiet,
clean condo to rent. Does anyone have any suggestions? We've
been staying at the Spring Towers in Cherry Grove and love it
but find it is often too far from many of the places we love to
go...Myrtle Waves, Broadway at the Beach, etc. I'd also be
interested in anything new for families this year. We love the
Carolina Opry, Fuddrucker's, and the Alabama Grill! We've spent our last five vacations at Myrtle Beach. My
husband and I and two daughters travel with other family members
and friends. It seems to be hard to please such a large crowd.
We normally stay at Sea Crest Resort and have no complaints this
year we decided to try somewhere different and we chose The
Palace. I haven't seen any comments on this Resort any would be
appreciated. Our favorite places to eat are Drunken Jack's at
Murrell's Inlet and Dick's Last Resort (Great Atmosphere!). We
will be arriving mid July. Counting the days for a long awaited
vacation!!! :) I am leaving for MB in 9 days and I am very excited. I have
been there twice before and had great times! My favorite places
to eat Dicks Last Resort and Tripps at Barefoot Landing. My
favorite places to shop are Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the
Beach. I also love the Dixie Stampede! Based on two years of experience, the best places for Fine
Dining at Myrtle Beach are: Anchor Inn and Golfstream Inn at
Murrel's Inlet, Hemmingway's at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle
Beach. Outrigger is also very good with a family atmosphere. We
are headed to MB again this July 4th, and hoping not to be
chased away by Bertha's evil twin (Bertha shortened our vacation
by a couple of days last year). We would appreciate suggestions
from you MB veterans on Fine Dining with elegant atmosphere,
excellent service, cuisine (not grub) etc... We first visited MB on our honeymoon in Dec of 88. Since then
we visit at least once a year and try for twice. We love it and
hope to retire there. We have stayed at the Kingston Plantations
in NMB, (loved it), Coral Beach, Crown Reef, and Waters Edge
Resort. For the honeymoon, Kingston was the best, BUT, for just
enjoying MB, Waters Edge is SUPER. The rooms are huge, clean,
very well furnished and the staff is great!!! Our usual trip in
May had to be be canceled this year so we are looking forward to
our September trip. Favorite resturaunts include the Alabama
Grill and Carolina Roadhouse. WE love all the entertainment but
especially enjoy the Legends performances. Sitting here 6/14/97
waiting for September. Hope to meet you there!!! We just came back from Myrtle Beach (June 1-6). First time
for us - husband and teenage son golfed 36 holes each day. They
played everything from Gator Hole to Traditions. They enjoyed
them all. Moorland was their #1 spot. Make sure you golf that
course. We stayed at the Sands Beach Club - a great all-suite
resort - nice rooms and amenities. We ate at several places -
River City Cafe, Longhorn Steak House, Gabby's Steak House
(wonderful margaritas), Dick's Last Resort - no complaints on
any of them. The weather could have cooperated more. My daughter
and I were planning on walking and enjoying the beach. Not so.
Maybe next year. We do plan on going back. Till then. I am new at using the internet, I sent a letter on 6/5/97 and
it put "Anonymous" for the name, no wonder I didn't here back
from anyone. So lets try it again. We have visited Myrtle Beach
for the last 3 years. First year we stayed at the Bluewater
Resort (I felt this was run down.) The next year we stayed in
the new suites at the Dayton House which were very nice but the
owner was a pain. Last year we stayed at the Coral Beach ( for
as much as we spent a night we felt it should have been nicer,
plus every other hotel in MB that I have contacted have gone out
of their way to help me but this Coral Beach, they act like you
are bothering them or something. So this year we thought we
would stay at the Crown Reef or Captains Quarters. Does anyone
have any information about these two hotels, whether they are
nice or not? Also our favorite restaurant is Drunken Jacks at
Merrills Inlet. Our family just returned from MB. The weather was cool, but
we still got to enjoy the beach. NASCAR Cafe is a must for all
to see. We found the food to be excellent and the prices
reasonable. We stayed at the Sea Winds. The condo was very nice,
but needed some deep cleaning. We stayed in North Myrtle Beach
and it was very family oriented. Myrtle Beach is one of my favorite resort areas. My husband
and I have been going there for 8 years and we love the Beach
Cove in North Myrtle Beach....plenty of room and all suites are
ocean front. Favorite shopping...Barefoot Landing and Broadway
at the Beach. Favorite Restaurant....Damon's in Barefoot
Landing---I just can't get enough of their Onion Loaf and their
Ribs are out of this world! NOW, I can't wait to go. Carole We have been to MB for the last 3 years. We have stayed at
the Bluewater Resort (run down) the Dayton House which was real
nice, we had one of the new suites and I really liked it, the
only problem was the owner, he was not very pleasant to be
around. Last year we stayed at the Coral Beach, my son loved it,
I think it is geared toward teenagers. My husband and I were
disappointed with the interior of the room, it had new carpet
but otherwise not real nice for the money we spent. Plus when I
called them this year they are not very helpful and seem a
little rude to me. Does anyone know anything about the Crown
Reef or Captains Quarters, I heard Captains Quarters was
renovated last year. Is this true, and isn't the Crown Reef
fairly new? As far as restaurants we love Drunken Jacks at
Murrills Inlet. Myrtle Beach is a great place for vacation, we
love it. Please let me know right away on these hotels. Thanks
We spent the week of April 26-May3 at Myrtle Beach and stayed
at the Poindexter. The place was adequate but not fancy. We are
from Maryland and used to going to Ocean City, MD. We were
disappointed that Myrtle Beach had no boardwalk. The beach is
not very wide (we are beach and ocean lovers). There are lots of
restaurants but the seafood does not compare to the seafood here
in Maryland. The best meal we had (ribs) was at the Texans'
Grill at 80th Ave and Bus. 17. It was a nice relaxing week, but
I think we will go back to OC next time. My family has been going to Myrtle Beach for the past 5
years. We generally stay at THE BEACH COVE RESORT, beautiful
place, pricey, but well worth it after a long drive. It is
rather private considering that it is in North Myrtle. We have
stayed at the SEA MIST and last year had to stay at the
CARRIBEAN. These 2 hotels are nice but nothing can compare to
THE BEACH COVE!! THOROUGHBREDS is by far our most favorite
restaurant. We also love the Calabash restaurants. We have seen
all of shows (Dixie Stampede, Alabama, Carolina Opry, Magic on
Ice, and more) and and we loved them all! We are going back to
Myrtle September 1997. (staying at The Beach Cove!) Can't
Wait!!!! :) We always visit Myrtle Beach in September, usually around
Labor Day. We are going later in Sept. this year. For the past 5
years we have stayed at the Sea Crest but have seen it go down
hill. We were thinking of staying at the Captain's Quarters this
year. Does anyone have any recommendations or information on
this resort. I can't wait to get back to Myrtle Beach. Our
vacation last year was cut short by the threat of Fran. Hope we
have better luck this year. We found a new favorite place to
eat, the Chesapeake House. It is wonderful, they have the best
sea scallops. We also enjoy Lee's Inlet Kitchen in Murrell's
Inlet. The web pages about Myrtle Beach will help me get through

we take boat rides,go to the carnivals,shop, all the fun stuff
mb has to offer. our favorite place to eat is Preston's. it's
affordable and they offer foods that small children would find
yummy. we have stayed at the Sand Dunes and it is a very
beautiful place; a little on the more expensive scale if you're
on a budget, but well worth the price!!we all love mb!!!!!!! My family has been coming to MB for years! My own children
loveed the place and now their children do. We take a week for
the entire family -grandma, sons, daughters-in-law and
grandchildren. We rent a condo in Garden City facing the ocean
with 8 rocking chairs on the porch facing the ocean. Guys play
golf, women shop or sun and the kids are in the ocean. Well, we just got back from MB, and although the weather was
not as nice as we had hoped, we still managed to get our 6
rounds in...just wanted to give my thoughts on the courses. I have been going to Myrtle Beach for at least 18 years and
it is by far my favorite place to visit. I've gone almost every
year and am still not bored. My husband and children all love it
, also. We always stay oceanfront at the northern end of MB.
We've stayed at the Carolina Winds, The Ocean/Sand Dunes, The
Patricia North, The Myrtle Beach Martinique (aka the Sheraton)
and the Sands Ocean and Beach Club. All were very nice, the most
recent we stayed at was The Patricia North it is an all-suite
oceanfront resort built about 3 years ago and accomodates our
family of 5 well, it has a lazy river, indoor/outdoor pool and a
rooftop pool that our kids thought was very cool. We are
planning to go this August and have tentative reservations for
Sands Ocean Club. We like to eat at Texans Steakhouse and
usually shop around at Barefoot Landings and Broadway at the
Beach. Our kids love the miniature golfing, the go-kart park and
the water slides. Also my parents like the Sand Dunes resorts
because they offer free golf in the summer months if you pay
regular room rates. We look forward to going again this summer.
My family and I have been going to Myrtle off and on for 8
years. We used to stay at the Sea Mist. Great shallow kiddie
pools. Have tried the old Patricia Grand, nice place but I don't
care for "oceanfront" rooms that are at a 45 degree angle to the
beach. Tried the Wellington condo in N. Myrtle last year. Nice
rooms but mediocre pool. Our very favorite restaurant is
Carolina Roadhouse. EXCELLENT!!! Also Russ's Inlet at Murrells
Inlet. Just got back from MB. First time there in almost 17 yrs.
Couldn't believe how much it had grown! Based on Travelogue
comments, we stayed at the Caribbean. Nice room, great view, but
a few minor drawbacks (no lights in the parking garage some
nights, etc.,) Our favs were: Eats -- Capt. Benjamin's
buffet(pricey for a family of 4,though), River City Cafe for the
best burgers, and Liberty Steakhouse at Broadway for great prime
rib. Broadway at the Beach for shopping. Huntington Beach State
Park in Murrell's Inlet for the best beach (wide & clean).
Brookgreen Gardens (too beautiful to describe) for a whole day's
outing. Our least favs were Barefoot Landing -- (I know it's
highly recommended, but I wasn't impressed and simply enjoyed
Broadway at the Beach more), Waccamaw Pottery (just another
outlet mall with the same stores you see a lot of places), Hard
Rock Cafe (the food wasn't anything special and we had a waiter
with an attitude). Before I forget, also liked Uncle John's
Restaurant on 24th Ave N. for a good old fashioned breakfast at
a great price. And of course, Kirk's Ice Cream Parlor. If you
haven't been to MB for a while you're in for quite a pleasant
surprise! 4/12/97. 4/9/97 We have been going to Myrtle Beach for the past 18
years and have stayed at a few different hotels. We liked Ocean
Dunes/Sand Dunes, they've just recently renovated. We also liked
Carolina Winds and last year we stayed at Patricia North which
was an all suite oceanfront resort. We have 3 children and the
Patricia North had plenty of room for all of us . They have a
lazy river, a large outdoor pool and also a rooftop pool which
the kids thought was very cool. We like Texans steakhouse and
make it a stop every time we go down. The Filling Station is
good because it has an all you can eat pizza buffet and its
fairly cheap especially if you get a coupon in one of the many
discount books located at suppermarkets. We recommend shopping
at Barefoot Landings and Broadway at the Beach, its nice to walk
around in the evening and sometimes they have a firework show on
certain nights. We are planning to go this year in August when
the rates are cheaper. Also Sand Dunes/ Ocean Dunes offer free
golf when you pay regular room rates so that is a great deal if
like to golf. We love it and can't wait to go. weather was in the mid 70's for all 4 days. We played
arrowhead which was in great shape, Blackmoor which we loved,
the Witch was disappointing because the tee boxes on the back 9
were in really poor condition as were some of the greens. The
back nine was great and almost made up for the front nine. On
the last day we played the Heritage which is a must play for all
golfers. The Watersedge Hotel was great as usual. We found an
awesome Mexican resturant on 17 bypass call Fiesta De Burro
Loco. The food was hot and spicey and the servings were large.
Hi, I've been going to Myrtle Beach and staying at Ocean
Lakes Family Campground for as long as I can remember. I hope
the Pavilion stays on the Ocean Front instead of moving to
Broadway at the Beach. Top 5 courses in Myrtle Beach: We wouldn't go anywhere else! Our last vacation was four
years ago, just after we purchased our new home and our son
started college. We stayed at Palmetto Dunes with friends of
ours and their two children. It was both spacious and clean. My
husband and I made reservations for the Wind Song in North
Myrtle for September - can anyone tell us what to expect? This
will be our first vacation without the kids and we're really
looking forward to it. For all those interested, T-Bonz is a
great steakhouse and they have a nine layer chocolate cake to
die for! The River City Cafe is also a favorite of ours. We loved MB so much we're planning our trip back this May.
Last May we played Pawley's (twice), Heritage, Wild Wing, and
Moorland. Each had it's own special touch -- traps at Moorland
are like fish -- they have lips. We avoided Crooked Stick; it
didn't look the least inviting. As for food, the mainstream
restaurants are so-so; try Yum-Yum's (spelling ?) just south of
Pawley's Plantation on the east side if you aren't afraid of
sitting on picnic benches and licking your fingers. Just returned from a golf vacation in MB (3/3 - 3/6/97).
Weather was great (mid 70's to low 80's) with all sunshine and
no rain. Stayed at a condo associated with the Carribbean
Resort. We played Heron Point, Waterway Hills (27 hole course)
and Eagle Nest. Waterway Hills was the best of the three (Nice
fairways and excellent greens plus many bunkers for those who
like the beach), however Eagle Nest was challenging. Recommend
checking into replays for the courses you play and schedule them
with your tee times. You only have to pay the cart fee and you
could save some bucks and still o.d. on golf. Good places to eat
are Capt. Benjamin's Calabash, Damon's Ribs, New York Prime (on
28th Ave.), Cagney's, Rossi's (Italian), and you can't forget
Hooter's. We decided to fly and used Myrtle Beach Express (1 1/2
hour filght from Newark - Landed at 11:00 a.m. and our tee time
was 1:00 p.m.). Air fair was cheap ($165.00 round trip - 4th
person flies free - they divide the other three rates amongst
the foursome). i AM 23 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN VISITING MYRTLE BEACH SINCE
ABOUT THE AGE OF 4. WE HAVE ALWAYS STAYED AT THE pOINDEXTER
EVERY YEAR AT EASTER TIME WITH MY FAMILY I EVEN TOOK MY HUSBAND

TRIP TO CALABASH AND SHOP AT THE CHRISTMAS SHOP AT THE
INTERSECTION. GOLF AT THE LEGENDS, HAVE DINNER AT TONY ROMAS
RIBS AND TOP IT OFF WITH APPLE PIE AND ICE CREAM AT JOHNNY
ROCKETS! WHAT A WAY TO GO! OUR NEXT TRIP WILL BE IN MAY '97. 2-10-97. Our family has been to Myrtle Beach for the past
three years. We have stayed at the Caribbean Resort & Villas
every year. It is a GREAT place to stay, very clean and
family-oriented. Good places to eat are the Sea Captain's House
and the Original Captain Benjamin's. I will always love MB
because it is where I first saw the ocean for my 35th birthday
in 1994! LOVE IT! BEEN GOING TO MYRTLE BEACH FOR OVER 25 YEARS. MY

LOVE GOING TO CALABASH FOR DINNER. BARE FOOT LANDING, AND THE
FLEA MARKETS ARE THE BEST PLACE TO FIND THE GOOD TREASURES.

increased prices of condo's where we have stayed.Some are going
up at pace much quicker than the rate of inflation. Myrtle Beach

Thomas 1-25-97 My top picks: My family and I have been going to Myrtle Beach for 20 years.
In reading all of the other enteries I am surprized that no one
has mentioned PIER 14 Restaurant. I always knew that it was a
well kept secret, but I expected someone to have visited it and
Love it. It has by far the best patio, and entertainment. It is
located on 14th Ave. in Myrtle Beach, over the ocean. You will
be missing out if you don't try it!!!!! There is nothing more
relaxing, than having dinner or a drink on the patio, with the
ocean crashing right underneath you. You can see the ocean and
beach for miles. Our group has been going to Myrtle Beach for six years. The
concensus is Oyster Bay is the best course, followed closely by
any of the Legends three courses. I would say that of the three
Parkland is the best overall, but Moorland is the most fun.
Playing the surcharge courses is definitely worth it but of the
non-surcharge courses Cypress Bay is about the best we have
played. Other good course are the Dunes, Long Bay, Caledonia,
Heritage, and any of the Wildwing courses. Pawleys Plantation is
the toughest course we've played. As Jack says he doesn't design
courses for amateurs. We plan going to Myrtle at the end of
Febuary, and one of our stops is at Wicked Stick, but with all
the negative comments I'm starting to get worried about playing
there. As far as accommodations you can't beat the Carribean. We
couldn't get in their this year so we decided to go to the Beach
Colony. If any body has any comments on Beach Colony it would be
much appreciated. As far as restaurants the two best we found
are Shenanigans and a place called T-Bones (not the chain)
located in the Pawleys Island area. We've always had a great
time Myrtle Beach, its definately the best golf bang for the
buck. My wife and I have been going to MB every year for the last 5
years. Each time there is more to do and see. The beach is
great. Probably one of the best in the country. There are
something like 1500 restraunts to choose. Our favorites are
Rossi's and Tony's. Two of the best Italian restraunts we've
been to. Wicked Stick was the worst golf course I have played down in
Myrtle Beach in the 11 years that I have been going there. Best
restaurant.....thoroughbreds..... best golf course.....Caladonia
I have been going to Myrtle Beach since I was in college
(about 30 years) almost every year. Since I have had kids in
school (last 18 years or so), we go right after school is out
(early June). I started out in motel/hotels, but with kids, a
condo is best. For the past 10 years or so we have been using
Grand Strand Vacations and Thomas Realty for rentals in North
Myrtle Beach. North Myrtle is the best for number of golf course
close by. Yet my family has lots of things to do if they tire of
laying in the sand. Some condos I have stayed in recently and
recommend: Beachmaster, Ocean Garden Villa, Sea Cabin. Sea Cabin
may not be as nice as the others, but is usually least expensive
and has its own pier and fishing facilities. Of course, with
condos every unit is maintained and furnished by it's owners, so
each is different. I have played most of the older courses there
and many new ones. I even have my own database set up with info
on every course there. I especially like Possum Trot. It
advertises itself as the "friendly course" and is. Also I'm not
as long off the tee as I used to be, and the course is more
playable. Other courses I play a lot and enjoy: Eagles Nest,
Gator Hole, Bay Tree (3 courses), and Myrtlewood (2 courses). I
like playing in the summer. Fall and Spring are more
crowded/expensive on the courses. Afternoon in the summer most
courses have very inexpensive specials. Our favorite restaurants
are Capt. John's at Calabash (lots of excellent seafood places
there) and the Outrigger just outside Possum Trot. The Outrigger
has OUTSTANDING steamed, spiced shrimp. I've been vacationing at Surfside Beach for all of my 23
years and love it! It has become a home away from home. This
June I will be there with my sister's family and can't wait to
go to Broadway at the Beach. I've heard a lot about it and want
to check it out. My favorite place to eat is the Dockside
Resturant in Murrels Inlet. I also recommend the Channel Marker.
They have a great buffet and it's reasonably priced. Be sure to
check out the Myrtle Beach Grand Prix if you like go-carts, and
if you like mini golf you'll be in heaven. :) 1/9/97 My family and I have been to Myrtle Beach several times, most
recently in August of 1996. WE LOVE IT! Favorite places this
last trip were Myrtle Waves water park, the Hard Rock Cafe, and
Kirk's Ice Cream Parlor - my husband is craving it! We're
planning on going June of 1997 and would appreciate some
suggestions on nice condos that are geared towards families with
small children at reasonable rates. Of course, beachfront would
be ideal, but not required. Please reply ASAP since we're
anxious to make final plans! My name is Kevin Grom from North Arlington, N. J. and my
family and I have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for the past
six summers(1991 -'96)and we have found a number of great
restaurants. Our favorites include Landry's, Sam Snead's and
Cagney's. We also attended a concert at the new PALACE THEATER
and loved it. (1/4/97) My wife and I have been going to Mrytle Beach for many years
and find that, for retiries, the Surf & Dunes in April and May
is very reasonable. We use the K & L Cafateria for most of our
meals and find great restaurants for a few special times. The
Surf & Dunes has a great place to sit in the sun and yet is
convenient to the sand and water. It's fun even if your not a
golfer. The one problem with this particular hotel is that they
lost their indoor swimming pool to a hurricane a number of years
ago and haven't put a new one in. But they have two outside
pools. 12-27-96 Have been to MB for past 13 years, usually in late
October. Weather mostly very good. Best courses for me all have
Bentgrass greens, or some newer hybrids similar to Bent...the
Bermuda greens are very frustrating unless you're used to them.
Best courses: Wild Wing-all) , Angel Trace(both), Sea Trail-all,
Heritage, The Witch, Oyster Bay & Marsh Harbour, The Pearl-both,
Panther Run and Lion's Paw. Tidewater a good course, but too
expensive. All of above have surcharges, but worth it. Best
restaurants: Flo's Place in Murrell's Inlet; Damon's;
Gullyfield's; most other Murrell's Inlet places ok too. Nice
place to stay in North MB is Ocean Court...nothing fancy, but
Scott & Linda great to work with. Plan to bring a larger group
out next year. Me and my family have been going to Myrtle Beach for ten
years now. One of our favorite places to eat each year is Rosa
Lindas, the food here is Mexican and Italian. Another place to
try is the Santa Fe Station, this restaraunt has just about
anything that you could possibly want. If you want to try a
fancier place to eat I strongly reccomend that you try The
Marker 350. This is without a doubt one of the best places to
eat I've gone to Myrtle and North Myrtle on and off since I was
very youn ( I'm 19). In North- Sea Scapes is a great place to
say. The Hard Rock Cafe also has great food! I've been to the Myrtle Beach area 10 times. Tidewater and
the Heritage Club are the best courses down there. Pine Lakes
was a disappointment and Colonial Charters was in rough shape.
As for places to eat go to Shenanigans. If you're a golf lover,
be sure to stop in Martins I lived in Myrtle Beach for 10 yrs. before moving to
Charleston. I loved the beach and all the tourist attractions.
Most of all I loved the seafood in Calabash, NC at Nance's or
Dockside. We owned a business called Fred & Lea's Clothing
Outlet in Little River, SC. I welcome Email. The best new restaurant in Myrtle Beach is Diner 99. Located
on restaurant row. Killer grub, cool building, friendly staff.
It looks like a 50's diner. Hard to find, but worth the search.
In the Hidden Village. The best place to enjoy bbq ribs at their best is DAMON's the
Place for Ribs. I recently visited Myrtle Beach, with the
numerous restaurants to choose from I stumbled upon Damon's at
Barefoot Landing. I was impressed with both the menu selection
and the service. The bbq ribs were great, tender and juicy. My
spouse enjoyed a generous cut of prime rib. To my surprise
Damon's had a second location on Myrtle Beach! It is located
directly on the ocean. We went to the second Damon's location
also The View was incredible. There was music and a fun
atmoshere. If you want good food, good service and a great view
don't miss Damon's when you visit Myrtle Beach. Our favorite place to vacation is Myrtle Beach. Now that we
don't have to go during spring break, we usually go in May and
either September or October. Our next trip is planned for
October 20-26. Our favorite places to eat are Benjamin's
Original Calabash and Texas Steerehouse (I think that's what
it's called). We've stayed at Coral Beach Resort mostly, but
we've also stayed at The Yachtsman. This time we're staying at
Patricia Grand North. It's new. Anyone heard anything about it?
Thanks for any info!! Myrtle Beach is a fabulous vacation spot. Our family has been
going for the last 41 years. We leave on Sat. night (July 13)
for this years trip. What started out as my parents, my sister
and myself, the group now includes my husband,son, daughter and
her fiance and my sisters husband and two daughters. For the
last several years we have stayed at the Beach Colony and have
been really pleased. The guys are really into golf and the
ladies enjoy the beach and shopping. There are many great places
to eat but our favorite is the Outrigger!! We are really
looking forward to another great year and are glad that Bertha

address and name. Thank You! My family is planning our 5th trip to Myrtle Beach next month
July 96. We always stay at the Sands Ocean Forest Resort. They
have great 2 bedroom condos and my family of five are quite
comfortable in their accomodations. During the summer they also
have a terrific kids club called "Sandy the Seagull" club that
keep my 3 sons happy and entertained for a little while each
day. Myrtle Beach is the greatest place to eat as well.
Captain Benjamins and Outback Steakhouse are a couple
of our favorites. And you can't beat the miniature golf there
either!! You'll love it!! We have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for the past 11
years, so you know we/ve been satisfied. We look forward to it
every year, and every year we discover something new or
different about the place. One thing we don't look to change is
our favorite eating place. Sure there are superb eating places
all over Myrtle Beach, but none as filling and none that is
easier on the wallet as good old K&W Cafeteria. With two
hungry teenage boys, you can really save here. As far as
golfing, every year we try to join the people at Golf Holiday
for their wonderful family summer Tournaments. The price is
right and so are the courses that they pick to play. Someday we
hope to retire there with our own place. I just went to MB for the first time last week, May 4-12. I
had a great time!! Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach
have great shopping. Also, Broadway at the Beach has fantastic
nightlife! If you like frozen drinks, you have to go to Fat
Tuesdays. Also, on 17 business is a little place called
Fat Jack's. They have the best wings I have ever had. Went
there three times in one week. Captain's Sea House is a
wonderful restaurant, though I am a little biased. My
sister-in-law is the pastry chef. If you go, you have to have
one of her deserts, especially her cheesecake. FANTASTIC! Have
Fun!! Our family has been to Myrtle Beach 4 times,once in march &
the rest at Christmas time. We thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere,
friendly people, golfing (our 10 yr. old thinks they have the
best mini-golf anywhere!),food, & then there is the ocean! there
is so much to do it's hard to know where to start. This past
Christmas we stayed at the Caravale in a suite overlooking the
ocean. Every morning we watched dolphins go by, feed the ever
present seagulls, and saw surfers trying to catch a wave. I
would recommend Broadway at the Beach for a great afternoon of
shopping and great nightlife too. A good place for ALL YOU CAN
EAT SEAFOOD is Benjamin's Calabash, or for a great dinner
The Crabhouse at Broadway. I think the best part of all
our Christmas vacations here has been New years Eve. Someone
always lets off fireworks at midnight! Everyone should go there
at sometime ; it's grrrreat!!! We're going to Myrtle Beach in July again this year. We love
it. Our favorites include Dixie Stampede, Barefoot Landing,
Alabama Theatre, Alabama Grill, Umbertos (fantastic
Italian food in Barefoot Landing), Magic on Ice and golfing! We
stay at Land's End and it is a wonderful condo in North Myrtle.
One year, we got tons of sand dollars right near the shore. it's
a fun place to visit... every year! I LOVE MYRTLE BEACH!!!! MY FAVORITE SHOW IS THE DIXIE
JUBILEE!!!!! SALTY SAM IS GREAT!!! I LOVE THE HARD ROCK CAFE!!
Well, my wife and I just got back from the Grand Strand. The
weather was lousy, but at least there was no snow. Here's a low
down on the courses and some places where we ate. First the
course: Two summers ago Holly and I began our adventures. But, we
soon figured out you had to have two I.D.'s (two that match!) to
go to most cool places. Leave it to us we mana- ged to find some
pretty cool places like, the Pavallion, Magic Attic. The best
place of all is DICK'S LAST RESOURT in Barefoot landing Anyone

Evans, GA) and we make frequent trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. Also,
my Husband drives part time for Lewis Bus Lines in Augusta, GA.
He has been there 3 times in the last 2 weeks. If they continue
to grow they will have more entertainment than Nashville or
Branson. Be sure you see BROADWAY AT THE BEACH featuring such
places as GILLEY'S, HARD ROCK CAFE,and many, many restaurants,
shops, various entertainment and THE PALACE THEATER, where only
the best such as Bill Cosby, Wayne Newton, Lou Rawls, Oak Ridge
Boys, Tanya Tucker, Kenny Rogers, Tom Jones 'UNBELIEVEABLE'.
LEGENDS IN CONCERT is presents excellent impersonation
entertainment, GATLIN BROTHERS, ALABAMA, DIXIE STAMPEDE, CAPTAIN
BENJEMIN'S ORIGINAL CALABASH SEAFOOD BUFFET is a treat. Try
THOROUGHBREDS for steaks and seafood, yum! yum! If you haven't

WAITING!!! Regards, For a perfectly "awful" good time, try Dick's Last Resort at
Barefoot Landing. Sante Fe Station has been a favorite of ours
for many years. It has now been discovered...so long lines
during peak times during the season. Located in the Ocean Drive
section on restaurant row. A very hectic time at MB is during
Memorial Day weekend. Do not reccommend it as there is a biker
convention going on and the traffic is terrible. My wife and i started going to Myrtle Beach on our honeymoon
two years ago. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the
following year and plan on going for many years to come.
Although we both enjoy golfing, we also found that Myrtle Beach
had a lot to offer after a day on the links. Some of our
favorite spots are "Texans" steak house, Dixie Stampede(you get
to eat with your fingers!), Barefoot Landing and of course,
Jurrasic Mini Golf. My husband and I fell in love with Myrtle Beach and have
decided to move there this winter. We have had a blast on our
visits and recommend the Captain's Quarters hotel because of its
reasonable price and its indoor lazy river ride. Nirvana!!! The
hard rock cafe next to Broadway on the Beach is also cool.The
weather is wonderful, even in the winter.I can't wait to be down
there full time. Our tour group visited MB sometime in May of 1995. The
Dixie Stampede is a fabulous family evening out. Includes
meal, show and audience participation. Great, clean fun. Of
course all the ladies wanted to take advantage of all the outlet
shops, and the Alabama Theatre was very nice. Our family has been going to MB for the last 4 yrs. We liked
it so much that we bought a 2 BR Condo at KINGSTON PLANTATION.
We've been in MB all 4 seasons and enjoy each. Our vote for best
restaurant is Giovanni's for great Italian food and
Nance's in Murrell's Inlet for seafood. Submitted 2-8-96.
We were in Myrtle Beach last May on our honeymoon and the
absolute best time. The people, sites, golfing and food were
outstanding! We will be returning in May. Gabby's is must
for those who love steak, ribs or chicken! It's located close to
Barefoot Landing, another must see. Myrtle Beach has
everything you need for a family vacation or vacation-for-2.
Enjoy, this is truly a GREAT vacation place! Hey, all you golfers. For the best place to eat I recommend
the Old Pro's Table. It can be a little pricey but worth
it. Also, I know most of you go to get away from the wife or
girlfriend so don't forget THEE DOLL HOUSE!!! By the way Pine
Lakes is the oldest golf course in the area and is probably the
best. 2/2/96 HAVE FUN. I've lived in Myrtle Beach all of my life and here's a tip
for those of you coming to visit - the place to go for great
food is the Sea Captain's House. Family-owned and
operated, this is a local favorite for breakfast, lunch or
dinner. Check out the home page for menu information. We spent our honeymoon in the wonderful town of Myrtle Beach.
We definitely recommend driving to see Medieval Times. Also a
must see is the sunrise over the ocean. For food critics we
recommend trying Hemmingway's at Barefoot Landing. For
those seeking something a little less formal try the nearby
Fuddruckers. MB is great. Flo's in Murrell Inlet is a GREAT restaraunt.
Off the beaten track but well worth the ride. Great golf courses
include Wild Wing, Dunes and Caledonia. Can't go wrong Best place to eat Shennigans. Go to the Dixie
Stampede and see Greg French He is one of the M.C, plus it's
just about the best family place to be. Guarnteed to get you to
smile. You may even get into the show! The weather is great too
NO SNOW Hi everyone! I'm Ronan Burke from Dublin, Ireland. I spent my
summer in Myrtle Beach. If you are looking to eat out over there
anytime - then The Parasol is the place to do it. It's
European cuisine second to none - try the irish spuds!! Say
hello to Doug ( the chef ) for me, if you go there. He might
even give you a complementary bottle of wine if you give mention
my name. But then again, maybe not! Oh yeah and another thing -
if you are down by the Sands Ocean Club and feel like a
few beers - well tough cause I drank them all! Ah there is
probably a few left. Check out Ocean Annies, where the
staff are friendly and the drink is too! Hope to see you there!
The Strand is a great place to have fun and still have the
opportunity to relax. Captain Benjamin's on Restaurant
Row has every kind of seafood as well as the best variety in
everything else on the buffet. The sandy beaches and people of
Myrtle Beach are hospitable hosts for the vacationers. For a great evening and excellent food visit the new
"Broadway At The Beach" and try the great baby-back ribs at
Tony Roma's restaurant. Then walk down to the new Hard
Rock Cafe and check it out. Try Sullyfield Seafood Restaurant when in Mrytle. Its
located on restaurant row. I always have either the Lobster Pie
(very rich :-) or the stuffed shrimp. Yum!
