We just got home from a week in Corolla about 4 hours ago, and I've spent the entire evening uploading photos to get printed right away because words can't do justice when I return to the regular grind this week and try to explain just how amazing this vacation really was. As I'm uploading, I'm searching the internet for places just like this, because I can't shake this feeling that I wish I had never left!! I could see myself retiring there forever!!

My family has been going to the Seafoam Motel for 31 yrs. When I first went there, it was 1990, my baby was 8, she is now in medical school, my other daughter was 10, she is now bringing her two babies down from Maine this year. My baby brother was 8 when they first went there, he is turning 39 today. We are all going back together this July. This is going to be a big time this year.

Hi, you probably have lots of answers by now - but I just wanted to share that Kill Devil Hill or Nags Head have more things for teenagers to do. Remember, that the Outer Banks are actually several towns that are within miles of each other, so it will be easy to get to a different "town". The most removed are the north end which is Corolla, Duck, and Corova. The most southern end has Avon, Salvo, Waves, Rodanthe, Hatteras. Anything in the middle - which is Southern Shores, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head is centrally located. Hope this helps. Hope you enjoy OBX!

I am desperately looking for a 3 BR 2 BA long term affordable rental home in the Kill Devil Hills, NC area. Going through a divorce where husband abandoned my 13 yr old daughter and me. My elderly mother of 72 also lives with daughter and I. Looking for this area particular for daughter to be able to play for the OBX soccer team and need to relocate to area that will be closer to my sister and also have good soccer program for daughter. We have a cat who is 8 yrs old, front paws are declawed, neutered, and has always been indoor cat and has always been fully litter box trained. Looking to relocate no later than June 15, 2008 (possibly much earlier!) Have been surfing the net and have not been able to find anything that meets the rent affordability, # BRs and BAs, right location and accepts pets! PLEASE HELP if you have or know of any long term rental that might possibly meet all the above. Thanks so much!

My boyfriend have planned a road trip in April. Starting in Myrtle Beach to Charleston to Savannah to Asheville to Winston Salem to Wilmington. Trying to find a place to stay in North Carolina. Either in Asheville or somewhere between Asheville and Winston Salem. This is our first trip together and we are dying to stay somewhere with an awesome view of the mountains. Any suggestions?
Thank you,

I am a responsible LEGAL 18 year college freshman who just wants to go to the beach with my suitemate and other friends. But the state of North Carolina doesn't want us too! Come on give the bored college kids a break. There is no reason we should be discriminated against because we still have our youth and want to have a little independence from our FAMILY!

We live in Pefferlaw Ontario, which is 1 hour north of Toronto, Ontario.
We have split-level house on a large lot with a river at the bottom. The
residential neighborhood is situated in the York Region Forest, and is a 5
minute drive from Lake Simcoe.

We are looking for a house on the coast, for July and August '08.

My family (6 adults and 2 toddlers or possibly extended family which will add 5 more adults)) have gone to Myrtle Beach for yrs and are looking for a change and thinking about the outer banks. While we have heard some good things, we have also heard that the currents are so bad in some areas that you can't get in the ocean, there is no where to go out to eat, water is too cold in June, etc. Any plusses or negatives you can give us would be appreciated. We would love a house with a pool or a nice condo.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some information. My nephews love collecting shells at the beach. I was wondering if anyone knows of a really good area in Nagshead for shell collecting. Are there any spots that tend to have more shells than others. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am replying about Stack'M High Pancakes. I loved the simple but effective way of be served like a cafeteria line then you order your breakfast pay for it, and a nice lady points you to your seats. After your meal is cooked they bring it to you . It was very good but the seating was tight but it made you feel as though you were at home and you were eating breakfast with the world. people were very nice and in a good jolly mood.

I need a place to relax and grab a bit of peace and quiet. I've been the main care giver to a husband with MS, a mother with Alzheimer's (recently deceased) and an elderly father, and a wonderful teenage daughter! Can anyone recommend a quiet, safe, campground near the water that has camp sites that I can park near, since I have post-polio and walking is frequently a challenge. My daughter and I would like to relax, dream, read, and laugh for a few days in August. Thought somewhere on the outer banks might be a good location. Any suggestions would be welcome.

As far as the crabbing goes we have had some luck at times on the bridge on the way back into Collington Harbo. Its the right turn right after the Wright Memorial a couple miles back. Make sure that you are there while the tide is moving in or out seems like the best time. When the tide ebs action drops off. Last year caught about 2 dozen keepers in about two hours.

Good luck.

Yes I have been coming to Rodanthe for like 12 ears now. I highly recommend
the Rodanthe Pier for fishing, I have never gone home disappointed. Catches
will vary from year to year.... But the action is always good. Well worth
my money.

I'm having quite a difficult time finding any "non-family accepting" rental places to stay in that aren't located between two highways, or have an extremely expensive security deposit. Me and a few friends have been saving money for a surfing trip and found
that it's much cheaper to get a house than it is to get a hotel for a group of people. Unfortunately pretty much every place in the outer banks has a policy on not allowing "non-family" groups. We are also 21 which is posing some problems as well. It pretty much obliterates all of our options. We have money and we really just want to have a good time together. We're not looking for trouble or anything we just want to surf!!
Please, if anybody can help me find a beach house that me and my friends could rent out that would be fabulous. There will be 6 or 7 of us.

Looking for a golf package or even a hotel and then travel around to courses over the Thanksgiving weekend 2007. 4 of us have usually gone down to Myrtle Beach, but thought we could drive to the Outer Banks and enjoy good golf with warmer temps than Cape May, NJ. Any ideas from anyone? Appreciate any and all ideas and suggestions. Have already figured where to eat from prior comments (although old dates on some of them) Thanks to any and all for any info. djk

There are lots of things for kids to do. Best of all, they don't have to have a computer or Gameboy! We live in the area in Virginia and go to The Outer Banks frequently. The beach is always a hit in itself. We give the kids jars with corks for them to fill up with shells, "witches' purses", rocks, etc. they find on the beach to bring home as a free souvenir. There are amusement parks and miniature golf, movie theaters and such. The Corolla Lighthouse will wear them out pretty good! You can climb to the top. Very nice view. Your can also go to the northern beaches and see the wild horses. The sand dune is pretty cool. Great place for kids to run around. Good place to fly kites, too. There is a ferry ride over to Ocracoke Island. Not much for kids, really, on the island, but they might like the boat ride. The older kids might like kayaking or surfing. The Wright Brothers memorial has some kids stuff, too. Have fun!

I have been fishing in Rodanthe about three times a year for about five
years now, and have been pretty lucky. I will be down The week before u go
down. I recommend Rodanthe Pier. If u are taking the kids try about 3/4 of the
way down the pier on the south side. Try little pieces of FRESH shrimp on
bottom rigs. The kids will enjoy it. Sea mullet are usually plentiful and
are good to eat. If u need anything or have any questions talk to TJ in the
pier house he will hook u up.
