In
Southwestern South Carolina the border between Georgia and South Carolina
is the Huge Lake Hartwell. We took a short weekend and stayed
two nights in Westminster about an hour west of Greenville and about
30 minutes north of Anderson. We stayed at Kinston Manor within
Foxwood Hills. On Saturday it was our 34 anniversary so we rented
a pontoon boat from The New Harbor Light Marina in Lavonia, GA just
a short 10 minute ride from our condo. Our son and his 2 year
old daughter came along and she loved the boat. We tooled around
that Lake from 10 AM until 2:30. There is so much to see on this
lake. We stopped and anchored around noon and enjoyed our stuffed
sandwich picnic and swimming off the boat. Pontoon boats are so
relaxing with little noise, pleasant flat ride and lots of room for
active 2 years old.
That
night we headed out for a very nice anniversary dinner. We asked
for suggestions and Paesano’s an Italian restaurant was recommended.
Paesano's Italian Restaurant is located at 1727 Blue Ridge Blvd
Seneca, SC 29672. Paesano's Italian Restaurant has been a main
stay of Seneca, SC for over Fifteen years. Established in 1992 by Frank
& Kathy Messana. "Paesano's is the most popular family eatery
in the Golden Corner." According to LAKE LIVING MAGAZINE. The
ambience was inviting and perfect for a family anniversary dinner.
The menu is extensive and they also offer specials. I ordered
the appetizer special Diver scallops and they were excellent.
For my entrée I got pasta and meat sauce. The dinners also came
with bread and oil and a salad. My husband shared an antipasto
with my son. My husband ordered Lasagna and my son ordered linguini
with wild mushrooms. Our granddaughter had stuffed shells.
It was a lot of food. We were disappointed in the tomato sauce
but everything else was wonderful. The service was attentive,
knowledgeable and pleasant. It was a lovely Anniversary dinner.
On
Sunday we headed to Greenville to bring our little girl to her first
zoo. It is a small zoo with a huge playground right outside the
gate. It was enough for a two year old. Lions, monkeys,
elephants, giraffes, etc. It was a fun morning. We traveled through
Greenville which is an eclectic city that I would love to explore more
but we were on our way to Victoria’s Valley vineyard in Cleveland,
SC for lunch and a wine tasting. The winery was impressive
with a terrace, a deli restaurant, a beautiful tasting room and little
shop. We ordered our lunch and then proceeded to the tasting bar.
The Deli offered sandwiches, salads and odds and ends as well as dessert.
My husband and I ordered Bread and olive oil and a cracker and cheese
plate which our granddaughter ate most of. Our son had a ham and
Swiss Panini with potato salad and veggie chips. We tasted (5
tastes for $ and then one dollar more for a signature glass) We
tasted Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and cabernet sauvignon.
We ordered a glass of the Chardonnay to go with our lunch and went to
sit on the beautiful terrace overlooking the vineyard. The wines
were very good and we had a lovely time. I even bought a small
loaf of their bread for $1 to serve with a Manchego Cheese appetizer
I brought. We stopped at a market and got two huge steaks and
some salad and dinner was easy and comfortable.
On Monday we headed home. It is about 5 hours. Our granddaughter
was so good. It was an exceptionally relaxing and nice family
anniversary. I want to go back because this area of the state offers
some fabulous hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and our family loves
hiking.
