Owner Rentals Search Hints & Help

The pages in Owner Rentals provides a forum for individual homeowners, property management companies, and realtors to present their vacation properties. One of the special features of the Owner Rentals is the ability to search for particular properties based on criteria such as price, location, view, and amenities. This allows you to find the right property for your next vacation.

All of the search forms you will come across on Owner Rentals and Southeast Getaway behave in a similar fashion. There are a few simple rules regarding the search facility:

  1. If no items are selected on the form and a search is submitted, all properties are returned from the search.

  2. If none of the items for a particular topic (i.e. House view/location) are chosen, then this topic is not figured into the search. For the example topic, this means that the search will match on all properties regardless of Home view. This is the same as if you had selected all of the items in the Home view topic area.

  3. Items within a topic area are OR'd together when performing the search. For example, let's say you selected the communities of 'Sea Pines', 'North Forest Beach', and 'Palmetto Dunes'. The resulting search would return homes in the communities of 'Sea Pines' 'North Forest Beach', and 'Palmetto Dunes' which meet the criteria.

  4. Topic area criteria are AND'd together when performing the search. For example, let's say you selected the communities of 'Sea Pines' and 'Folly Field' and additionally selected the home view of 'Oceanfront' and 'Oceanview'. This search would return all of those homes which are 'Oceanfront' or are 'Oceanview' in the communities of 'Sea Pines' or 'Folly Field'.

  5. For every item you select for the search, the criteria becomes more restrictive. It is very possible to select too many items and have no matches. You should always specify as few criteria as necessary to narrow your search.
